Please be gentle, as this is Anon's first attempt at anything APH.
Anon also apologizes if she failed the request. And for the slightly Al-centric beginning (Alfred: But America IS the center of everything!). And for the lack of comfort sex, which was supposed to exist but ended up replaced with fluff-angst-fluff.

The house stood intimidating in the darkness, an immobile shadow that seemed to appear thousands of times darker than anything else in the night. No lights were on within the house, though it was still obvious that the owner lurked within. After all, it appeared as though the curtains of one room were lit with the artificial glow of a television screen. For a Friday night, and especially one in October, this was perfectly normal. It was an American tradition, after all. Or... perhaps it was just one of Alfred’s traditions, but wasn’t that the same thing? Regardless, the sight wasn’t an unexpected one ( ... )

Alfred had already begun to ramble on once Matt had entered, switching erratically between chiding the other for interrupting the movie and questioning his reasons for such an unanticipated evening visit. Matt made no effort to interrupt the American, removing his shoes and hanging up his coat before allowing the other to grab his wrist and drag him through the dark halls. It wasn’t as thought Matt didn’t know where they were headed, but he let the other male lead him along regardless.

“And sooooooo,” Al continued in a manner that signaled the conclusion of his rambling. He flicked on the lights as he entered the living room, dropping unceremoniously onto the couch and turning the television off. “What’s up ( ... )

Matt only managed those four words before falling silent again. There was no pressure from Alfred to continue, only a hand that gently ran up and down the Canadian’s back. Yet this was enough reassurance for Matt to resume his tale. When he began speaking, it was almost as though he were suddenly off on a different tangent.

“Arthur has a thing for you, Al.” It was an abrupt statement that came from left field. This time Matt only paused for a moment before continuing. “But that could be expected, right? I mean, who cares about the ‘nice guy’?”

I do.“And especially when there’s someone who’s so much more interesting. Isn’t it the ‘wild’ ones -- the rebels and the miscreants and the troublemakers -- that people are more interested in ( ... )
