Awww. I didn't mean to make you cry. Especially not in public. ;__; But I'm glad you liked it!

OP here

god that was really beautiful. I loved all the little references to bits, and how well you portrayed the union/confed dynamic with UK. I live in a place geographically far south of the mason-dixie line in the US but is coupled with the northern culture, so I love that you didn't reduce the sides to stereotypes.

Eee, OP comment. ^____^

I'm so glad that you liked it! As I think I've mentioned--I'm in sort of the same boat with regard to origins (I'll just come out and say it--I'm from West Virginia). So I understand where there's a cultural investment in both sides, and I strove to honor that investment.

Oh, goodness, water on the keyboard. I live in the South, so I've heard the stories, and I've thought about this and...you executed it so well! SO WELL! Urk! I love you, really I do, and I don't even know you XD Ah...Okay, I'm just going to bask in the glow for a couple YEARS, all right? See you in year 8130!

This was absolutely one of the most amazing Hetalia fics I've read--no, I take that back, this was one of the best anythings I've read. Your writing is in itself incredible, and like I believe someone before me said, I'd love for you to de-Anon yourself so I can read anything else you've written. Your portrayal and characterization and all the subtle little references were amazing, you handled the premise of a split personality wonderfully, the imagery was beautiful, and even the tone was just so completely perfect.

Hetalia fanfiction (well, Hetalia in general, I guess) is a funny thing. It really has the power to change the way people view history. Unfortunately, I grew up with a rather Good Guy/Bad Guy portrayal of the Civil War, and I'm still trying to break myself out of those stereotypes. I must say, this fic has helped a good deal.

Beautiful, historically accurate, smart, & erotic. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND ALL THOSE THINGS TOGETHER AT ONE TIME? EXTREMELY.

This, I believe is the second time I've read this, and I love it just as much now as I did the first time. Fics with actual historical references in them get me so metaphorically hard. Absolutely beautiful.
ps. Rutting -best word ever.

When next he returns to America, there’s no denying the greater seriousness of what is happening there, and the profit that he has gained by the great Civil War. He sometimes receives messages. Polite, terse, bordering on the edge of reason and rage, he is asked to stop ( ... )

They’re going to get caught, the soldiers are going to hear them, even in a secluded place like this, and by damn it is cold! America never listens, and England has done his protesting. America is cold, but his lips are warm. Desperation can do strange things to someone, and even as America touches him, England can taste the salt of tears ( ... )

England isn’t sure if he can reconcile both sides of America, and so he cuts his trip short. He tells America it’s undignified and ungentlemanly, and that he will have no more to do with his internal squabbles. He doesn’t think America hears, and there is a part of him that is glad, and there is a part of him that is infuriated ( ... )

The news from America comes.

The battle of Gettysburg has turned the war, though President Lincoln’s speech was atrocious.

Is that so?

The war has ended.

Is that so?

President Lincoln was assassinated.

Is that so?

England turns away from the news. Each message reminds him of those soulless, blue eyes, and he can no longer bring himself to pretend that he enjoyed their misery.

Yes. Okay, I'm done. I got to write insane!America. I am happy with this.
