Author!Anon hopes this is okay...
Russian Water - Part 1/? --- Today really had been a good day for Russia, so far. He’d woken up bright and early to the sound of birdsong, enjoyed a quiet breakfast, and passed by some sunflowers on his way to today’s G8 meeting…and not once did he hear, see, or sense Belarus coming after him with a knife and a marriage registration form. That, he had to admit, was the icing on the cake. So what if he had to sit through another session of America babbling about robots and heroes and Obama? Who cared if nothing got done? So far, his day had been quite nice, and Russia would let nothing ruin it.
Nothing.
So, as the meeting was winding down, Russia let his mind wander. Now, when Russia let his mind wander, he came up with some of the most interesting ideas, one of which had turned into the infamous Iced Tea Fiasco which was never to be spoken of again (apparently, Germany still couldn’t get the stains out of his clothes…). “What about you guys?” He asked, his tone still sweet and airy and icy. “Would anyone like to go drinking with me tonight?” He then focused on one in particular. “America?”
The blond in question halted his whistling (Too bad, thought Russia, He was in the middle of a good song,) and let out a nervous, yet still boisterous, laugh.
“Ahah, ah…thanks but no thanks, Russia,” He said, holding a hand up and waving it slightly. “Too much shit to do, you know? I gotta go change the world, man…” He started laughing a little again, and Russia desperately wanted to roll his eyes; this ‘change’ thing was getting old fast. “But, uh…I’m sure Germany would be more than happy to get hammered with you!” The more serious blond gave America an almost appalled, ‘Why’re-you-forcing-him-on-me’ look, but that didn’t last long, as he quickly cleared his throat and put on a straight face

“Oh, just go with him!” America exclaimed (he could be so rude). “Besides, you say that every time you’re invited somewhere on the spur of the moment!” Japan looked at him oddly.
“But if it’s not planned in advance…”
“Fuck plans!” Why was America looking so desperate now? “You don’t need plans to go places, talk, and eat! Hell, I bet you’re just gonna watch TV when you go home, huh?”
“Well, you see-”
“And the only things that air on your TV are those shows where people go places, talk, and eat! Why watch something on TV that you could do in real life?!?”
“But those’re celebrities doing those things, it’s different-”
“Hey, you assholes, keep it down! I’m lecturing my brother over here!”

dear author!anon, i love you. while requesting this, i wasn't exactly a fan of russia but now i totally am. i felt so bad every time he was rejected but i laughed so hard as well. as for russia/canada? new otp for me! XD thank you thank you thank you for this awesome fill - i really wasn't expecting something this good. everyone else was in character and hilarious as usual, and i love how america was the one to say the quote. thanks again. That was really funny! Non-creepy russia's a first for me, but I liked him. LULZ at overprotective America. I kinda wanna see a cuba/russia/canada fic now.. where they're like buddies or something...

This Was EPIC! I'm not sure if I've seen a sane-ish!Russia portrayal as good as this before, or even if I've seen one at all! You really kept him in character while making him so self aware and it's just awesome. and having his trademark "become one" bit at the end...i love cliffhangers
