I hope that OP likes this, I've been sitting at my kitchen table all day doing research ^^;When America hugged him with one arm wrapped around the back of his neck, the other disconcertingly motionless at his side, Russia took a brief moment to breath him in. He smelled of autumn, mostly, and the ebb and flow of the sea-- also there was the fading smell of turmoil that all nations carry at some point or another in their lifetimes. He put his arms around the smaller nation's waist to pull him closer, trying hard not to initiate a full on rib-splintering bear hug, for fear of breaking the fair-haired collection of states

“Pffft, I can walk ya know.” America laughed. Russia frowned, deciding he might as well get everything out of the way now.
“What is wrong with your other arm?” The blond cringed as if slapped, and his smiled instantly dropped into a pouting frown. The other arm in question sported a gloved hand, unlike the arm that was linked with Russia's.
“Oh, nothing. It's fine. Seriousl--” He lifted it up too fast, bending it into better view for the Russian to prove that it was perfectly fine, but only ended up gasping and dropping it back down to his side. Tears welled up noticeably in his eyes almost immediately. Russia arched a brow and brought them both to a stop just as they stepped off of the weather-worn dock and onto the battered little road that would bring them into the town. “I-it's just a few burns, nothing serious

This is taking place several days after The Great Peshtigo Fire as well as The Great Chicago Fire, which both happened in the same span of time. I'm going to be putting up notes about them at the end of the fill.

yesssssssss loving couple please!!!!!!!! who cares about the cold war? This reminds me so much of the fluffy feelings in the earlier chapters of TCE...You made my day anon!
