Summary: A storybook like fancomic on the Age of Discoveries, in Hetalia characters!
Comm long time no see (since May)! I'm back with some comics and this time I decided to do a historical topic rather than a country, for the simple reason that I love this part of history so much. The fashion, the wooden ships, the traded goods and the academic discoveries always fascinate me.
Age of Discoveries, also known of Age of Exploration, spans roughly from 15th century to 17th century, with some aftermath going on till the 19th century. Other than Hetalia, this entry was also inspired by Koei's Uncharted Waters (Daikōkai Jidai) series. I'm no expert though so there might be mistakes somewhere, if it can be easily fixed (texts and such), please let me know!
There are 16 bosses in this entry (not counting repeats). Some are famous, some not so much. An answer sheet is hidden somewhere in this post, if you would like to know who they are.

The 7 major countries that were involved in this era.
*Baby Eater: The China-Portugal trade did not end well. Portuguese merchants kidnapped some children as slaves (same deal in Congo, and more than likely at every other trading posts). The Chinese authorities were confused about why children were disappearing and thought they were eaten, hence the name "baby eater".
*Macau was originally rented to Portugal by mutual agreement, but Portugal's control over Macau gradually increased over the next 200 years, until Macau became a colony in the 19th century (against China's will of course)
*First land Chris landed on was the Bahamas, then Cuba after. I couldn't resist the idea of a young Cuba.
*Sakoku: Japan's otaku policy from 1633 to 1853. In reality, it was policy of strict control of trade through limited ports, and Japan still traded with China, Korea and the Dutch Republic.
...if that wasn't the case, this comic would be in another language!
Bonus countries!
Other countries that were usually not representative of this era, but nevertheless influenced in a more indirect way.
The Grand Prince of Moscow, who possessed the same name as Russia, brought him from a tiny nation state to a fat big-boned empire, as Russia's name changed from Duchy to Tsardom. With this foundation, in the next couple centuries Russia would only grow fatter.
In 1523, Sweden left the Kalmar Union and started his climb from a hot mess to a superpower, and this boss was his starting point. By 17th century, Sweden's fleets were possibly the strongest of all, and helping out his allies in different wars became his daytime job.
Formed in 1569, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was one of the largest and most populous countries in Europe. A political system ahead of its time, religious freedom and cultural diversity - together they were called "The Most Serene Republic of Poland".
State of the Teutonic Order in early 16th century had been pretty much been a puny, sandbag state. After being defeated by Poland and facing the upcoming Protestant Reformation, one boss decided to secularize Prussia and established Duchy of Prussia, while living in Poland's basement.
Not really influential at this point in time but it's interesting to know what Prussia will become~
Thank you all for reading till the end! As usual, past posts are on my LJ~
