Ivan had been on his way to lunch when something caught his eye. He looked over to see some posters, along with a booth with some boy he felt unfamiliar with. Judging from those posters, it seemed like said boy was trying to get petitions signed. Well it couldn't hurt to help out, yes? It would be a nice thing to do, so he approached the booth to see what he could sign ( ... )

As soon as Vash started feeling bored, he reminded himself that this wasn’t meant to be fun. Life wasn’t there to be fun. You did what was necessary and you did your best. Anything else should be a byproduct of a job well done. It was as simple as that. He could sit out here forever if he needed to. He was staring off at nothing when the tall senior walked up ( ... )

Since Ivan was closer to the boy than when he first saw him, he was able to get a better look at him. His expression didn't seem all that happy, but then again he wouldn't be making these petitions if something wasn't making him upset. He could at least look a little more cheerful to avoid scaring away customers.

He tilted his head slightly, still confused about the petition. "I guess you have a point there, but not everyone is going to follow those laws. Besides, how are they going to know if they did it or not? It's not like they could get pulled over by a cop, since the dorms are pretty close to each other," he argued.

Vash rolled his eyes. That was completely ridiculous. There were many ways to enforce a law aside from catching someone in the act. Several laws were enforced after the actual action had taken place. “Of course you can’t catch everyone, but that doesn’t mean you don’t attempt to catch anyone. Not to mention dogs can be trained to smell contraband of all types, they simply would have to have a once a night walk through each of the dorm hallways. Any dorm serving alcohol would be checked for underage drinkers,” he countered. “Or, even easier, these parties are rarely quiet, the noise alone could draw the staff to them and the students could be carded.”

Feliciano wandered towards Vash's booth in a daze. The carefree young man had no intention in helping Vash with his petition. In fact, Feliciano didn't know what a petition was. He'd overheard some of his classmates talking about "Some clown in quad," and had taken it rather literally. He'd come to the quad in hopes of seeing an entertainer with a powdery white face and a big red nose, and over-sized shoes... like the ones he remembered from his childhood. However, after asking some of the quad's occupants where he might find this clown, Feliciano had been directed to Vash, an irritable young man standing behind a stall, with a serious expression that was alien to Feliciano's face. He was reminded of his close friend Ludwig as the brunette gazed at the stern face of Vash. He didn't look like a clown at all. But maybe this was part of the act...?
Feliciano grinned dopely as he approached the other boy.
"Ne, are you going to do something funny?"

Vash had been out with his petitions for a while, having only collected a few signatures. He had already had a couple of experiences that were less than pleasant. If the dumbasses of the world didn’t want to sign, he wasn’t going to force them, but they could at least have the decency to leave him alone.

He was absent mindedly doodling when the Italian boy came up to his booth, not even noticing him at first. The voice brought him back to reality and he began to notice his surroundings again. He quickly flipped over the piece of paper as he noticed what was on it, not wanting anyone else to see.

Vash looked up at him flatly, already annoyed by several things at that point. “Why would I do anything funny? I’m trying to make this university a better institution of learning,” he explained sharply. “Do you find something funny, about me?” he spat, not even sure what this was about.

As students brushed past him with trays filled with corndogs, Roderich could not help but grimace. Lately, the cafeteria specials had become nothing more than greasy, fried excuses for food, and Roderich's stomach was wearing thin on eating such utter garbage. Glancing over the large crowds, Roderich noticed a booth, covered in signs that was being occupied by a very familiar face. Blinking, Roderich squinted to be sure that he was not mistaken, and sure enough, it was indeed the angry composure of Vash Zwingli ( ... )

Vash was tearing up a few pieces of paper as Roderich came up, causing him to not fully notice him. He couldn’t believe he had been drawing stupid little pictures again. The only reason he had been drawing in the first place was to keep himself from focusing on all of the other annoyances around him, but did his drawings have to come out so… nevermind. He wasn’t even going to think about it ( ... )

Although Roderich managed to keep his face stoic, he could not help but feel slightly hurt at Vash's sharp words. To be completely honest, Roderich had not expected any different; long gone were the days when the two of them would hold light conversation about various topics of little or no importance ( ... )

In all honesty, Vash didn’t typically think before he spoke. He had no reason to attempt to placate anyone, so it just made sense that he would simply speak his mind. Naturally that meant if someone annoyed him, they’d end up hearing something terse. Since Roderich frustrated more than anyone, his roommate rarely got anything kind ( ... )
