Someone pin a medal to his chest or give him a big cookie - Gilbert didn't show up to this party already smashed. No, not even buzzed, and he didn't bring anything to spike the punch with. No illegal drugs, no outside guests, nothing that could possibly get him thrown out of here. All he brought with him was a new friend, a sophomore boy from his Elementary French class who was a pretty decent study partner. Decent, not great, but he would rather settle for that than ask Francis for help. His pride just wouldn't let him.

Hell, he even looked half presentable! He hadn't brushed his hair, but that wasn't anything new. A nice, sort of dressy navy-blue shirt over clean jeans and boots - yeah, this was neater than he usually looked. School functions tended to pull the prissy, narcissistic side out of him a good bit. But hey, this was better than sitting in his room all night, and the kid he showed up with invited him, so maybe that would go somewhere. Probably not, but at least he had somebody to hang out with.

Ivan loved parties, especially ones he knew would involve alcohol. Sure that wasn't the original intent of these kinds of parties the school held, but someone always came in and spiked the punch before it even got started. Then again, they weren't the only ones, as Ivan had a nice, little bottle of vodka hidden in his long jacket he planned on using later. Not only did he find it fun to watch the poor fools dance around intoxicated, but it also made it easier to obtain someone willing to play with him ( ... )

Surprisingly, it wasn't the all too familiar voice that made him cringe as he glanced back over his shoulder. It was that cutesy little name. Now, he could understand where it came from. He kept little canaries as pets and always had. Sometimes he had to hide them in the closet, since pets were against university policy, but they mostly stayed quiet when he was out of the room. Awesome little things, but ugh, that nickname...

His study partner had turned around as well and now glanced between Ivan and Gilbert curiously, but the latter wasn't saying anything. He wasn't even moving, save for managing a very stiff wave and thin smile in greeting. Oh, how he wanted to melt straight into the floor right now. Or just find a corner somewhere and put his head in it for the rest of the night. Oh, oh, or even better, find something strong and drink it as quickly as possible, preferably without stopping to breathe in between shots. Yeah, booze would totally make this evening more tolerable. "Hi Ivan," he said as the other approached.

Ivan had made it a habit to call him Gilbird. He learned about the little canaries he hid back when they were roommates. It was cute, and his name just so happened to work out into forming a nickname out of it so well. Not only that, but he enjoyed the mental image of the German locked up inside a cage, singing a sweet, sad song only for him. Ah yes. He could just see his delicate feathers fall apart right now if he thought hard enough.

He ignored the person that accompanied him, having no interest in him what so ever. If he got in the way, he can easily scare him off. He smiled in his usual childish way that faked innocence. "How have you been? It's been so long, yes? I'm surprised you have not gotten drunk yet," he said, grabbing his hands in his excitement, "We must share a drink together! I want to know what is new."

Vash didn’t generally go to parties. He didn’t usually get invited and if he did, he didn’t attend (which lead to him not being invited in the future). To Vash, this one was hardly different. But, tradition was tradition. Back home, New Years was supposed to be celebrated with others, just as Christmas was for family. So, he had decided he would make an attempt at being social.

This attempt mostly entailed going to the New Year’s party and hanging around until the clock struck midnight, at which point he would make his way back to his dorm. If he grew bored, he could always chat with whoever didn’t look like a complete idiot. It was a solid plan. He immediately ignored everyone else as he took a seat along the wall. He checked a clock on the wall, something told him he would grow to regret his decision to come before the night was over.

As he fixed his cravat and gave his hair a final run-through, Roderich checked the mirror to be sure he looked decent before stepping out of the dorm room. While Roderich was not one to attend social events, New Year's was a traditional holiday and he took it upon himself to try and interact with other members of the student body. After all, his roommate had already left to visit the school's dining hall, and if Vash was going to the party, Roderich could hardly think of a reason to stay in the dorm ( ... )

Vash’s eyes moved around the room to get a better idea what he was in for. He never lingered on anyone for too long. After all, he didn’t want someone to come over and talk to him, thinking he had been beckoning them over with his gaze. Or whatever people thought when someone else looked at them. Point being, he didn’t want to strike up a conversation with a stranger because he had carelessly stared at them ( ... )

Shifting his gaze over to a single body that was separating from the crowd, Roderick was both relived and yet nervous to see Vash. It was undoubtedly comforting to see a familiar face, however, Roderick did not know what to say ( ... )

So apparently he was on time - or, well as on time as he could be when there wasn’t really a specific time to be there. Figures something like this would happen to him, not only in the end of the year, but also when he wasn’t obligated to attend; it’s not as if he brought it upon himself or anything really, it was just that he and time didn’t get along. Yes, yes, that’s it ( ... )

No one could have been more surprised that Yu was putting in an appearance than Yu himself, as he hesitated outside the Dining Hall. He had never been one for parties; in fact, he would usually prefer to be anywhere else as opposed to a party. With people. Where he would be forced to socialise painfully and make inane small talk ( ... )

He had considered going over to the punch table, but it wasn’t such a smart idea. It was too early to drink, really, especially when it could be spiked; he remembered being foolish enough to pull off something like that in his first year, since he wasn’t used to that sort of thing, and it didn’t go so well. The headache from hell had yet to be forgotten ( ... )

Well, with the presence of Henrique at the party, at least Yu would have semi-intelligent, amusing conversation to keep him going. The older student was always so cheerful that it was... infectious. It was a different sort of cheerful from Yong Soo's hyperactive brand. And different also from Alfred's confident 'hero' cheer. It was an honest sort; one that grated less on Yu's nerves than either of the former and made Henrique quite... pleasant to be around (understatement ( ... )

Petr blushed as he looked in the mirror for the last time. He was wearing black loose pants with Hussies’ red goblet printed on side and back pockets, those where his favorite and most comfortable pants he has. He doesn’t care if it was too informal for this occasion.
He was wearing also plain white shirt with small Czech flag on sleeves and on back. He smiled at it. Oh, how he wished to be back home and watch all those sports events that takes place in this time of year. But hockey here was also really enjoyable.
He fixed his black leather collar. This was really embarrassing to wear, but he didn’t have a black scarf so he must put this on.
And finally he takes our black vest and put it on.

So now he was standing there in hall and watching everybody around. His headphones and MP3 player forgotten somewhere on his desk.
He looks around hoping to find somebody to talk to. He even brushed his hair and that was something he did once in a while.
