Oh God, I can't even begin to express how much this angers me as well. I rarely know how to respond to such occassions when I see them as I am just suspended somewhere between fury and disbelief. I just can't understand how people can be so flippant about such an awful, horrible and dark thing. And the 'cuteness' association with rape that seems to be among some of the shallower and smaller-brained members of this fandom sickens me beyond words. I mean, seriously, how can someone say that they want to rape a character?! How fucking stupid are you?! Is brutally forcing non-consensual intercourse on somebody you 'love' something you do?
And God, I hate the portrayal of rapist France and Russia. Especially since it seems to be done by those who supposedly love the characters. The supposed 'rapist' element of France seems to be treated with fondness. It seems to be almost regarded as 'endearing' by some people

Oh, wow. I'll try to respond to this in more depth later, but wow. I can definitely tell you've been keeping this bottled up for some time; I almost want to add your rant to my rant and create some sort of super rant.
I'm a bit late. Sorry about that, but I had some errands to run, and I since I knew I'd probably be posting a lengthy reply to this, I wanted to make sure that I had the time to do so.
First off, I'm glad that you posted this. I've run across this phenomenon rather frequently myself, and there have been times that I've wondered if I'm the only one who is squicked by the rape comments.
YouTube has to be one of the sites where this is most prevalent, although that could be because... well... it's YouTube. I've lost track of how many times I've seen a person leave a reply like, "I'M RAPING THE REPEAT BUTTON!!!" and, yeah, it really bothers me, because it contributes to this attitude that rape is not a big deal. It's something to laugh about. And if you do mention that you find it offensive, you're likely to be told that it was just a joke and you should lighten up. (Especially if you're female. Which brings us into the whole issue of gaslighting, and don't even get me started on thatOn one occasion, I did see a video on YouTube where

Nah, it's cool. There is life outside the Internet, after all.
No problem! I'm sure someone has ranted about this before on this community, but if they have, it hasn't been recently.
I keep expecting...okay, hoping...that commenters on YouTube videos will stop acting like complete assholes, but I am left perpetually disappointed as the Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory (GIFT) is proven time and time again. Oh, those comments bug the hell out of me, too, especially when they get top comment. UGH. I hate that attitude so much. "If white, Christian, heterosexual cis-men don't find it offensive, then why should you?" [/sarcasm

Once again, like with your last comment, agreeing with everything said here.
But the one that have been sickening me the most recently are the 'Raping-F5!!' comments that flood the Hetalia events pages. There seems to be more and more every new event.
Oh god, this, this, THIS. Not gonna lie, once upon a time I was one of those idiotic people that threw the word around thinking it was funny, but that changed pretty fucking drastically when my best friend was raped a few years ago. Like another commenter said--I've got nothing against writing about rape, but dammit take it seriously. It's not a laughing matter. And it's NOT cute. It's NOT a way to show affection. You want to ~raep~ England? Cool. But stop and think how much that would actually probably damage him emotionally, psychologically, or how much it would damage you if someone in real life decided they liked you enough to ~raep~ you. Yeah, not so 'cute' now is it?
rtkhlgrlot;ghkgltrghyjlog GAH THIS IS THE ONE SUBJECT where I will rant forever So I'll just stop now, but add one more thing: I totally agree with you on the France/Russia front. Though most of the character's personalities are bastardized in fanfiction, holy hell do these two get it the worst...
See?! You're living proof that people can change their minds, so why don't these other people show a little perspective? It is possible!
There are times while reading fic that I honestly feel like they're two random characters from some R-18 yaoi doujin rather than themselves. LE WHYYY???
To be fair though, when I say "once upon a time"... I mean I was literally, like, 12. XD; It just takes some growing up, I think... some people may never change, but hopefully most of these people throwing the word around will realize how idiotic they're being as they grow older.
And ah, fanfic... Seriously, I read just about everything, but I draw the line at mpreg and ooc. Those are probably literally my only two no-no's. XD
Ooh, I hate those too! I also hate when they have Character 69 rape Character 23 so that Character 41 can offer Character 23 ~healing sex~ and make everything ALL BETTER. Granted, these aren't exclusive to this fandom...Actually, aside from some very outspoken people with very small brains, I don't mind this fandom that much. It's splintered some since I first joined, but it's still better on a whole than most of my other fandoms and I'm less tempted to bean people over the head with a 2X4.

BECAUSE THE LAST THING I NEED AFTER BEING BRUTALLY RAPED IS ANOTHER PENIS DANGLING IN MY FACE.
NEVER MIND THE FACT THAT I COULD GET HERPES OR HAS A TORN RECTUM/VAGINA - NEVER MIND.
Sex = cures all sorts of trauma.
The sad thing is, I've seen fanfics like that.
What the actual fuck.
