i always find my own expectations on myself are much more difficult to live up to. i am quite thankful to have a husband who seems to be happy with whatever effort i put out there, regardless if i do as much as i'd like to in a day :) i also hate all the great expectations on v-day, and think it's a total commercial rip off. i am not against celebrating it, but i always tell jon not to get me flowers (the jacked up prices are ridiculous!!)... this year he got them at the grocery store, and refused to tell me how much they cost, the stinker! but i digress, and agree that life with lowered expectations will be more fulfilling, and way less stressful. not to let us off the hook entirely (feel free not to shave every day and go grocery shopping without makeup on, but please take a shower if you're smelly, lol!), but i think we must adjust the standards to enjoy life more... people remember your kindness better than your spotless kitchen floor ;)
Funny, I've been dealing with this myself. More in "another" post later. Not as a response, but as something I've been meaning to livejournal and am finally finding the time to do so.
