I walk into my babysitters. BUT only because she has told me I can do so. And I still ring the doorbell before I walk in. Now, she also has a mud room that is the entrance we use and I never go beyond that. I just loiter in the mud room until she comes down to us. I don't walk into her "home" beyond the mud room. I have come in and she has called to me to come ahead upstairs, but I don't venture into her home uninvited, though I'm sure she'd be fine with that. I prefer to stay the over-courteous parent.

I WOULD mention it to the parent. I say this as a parent. I would want to know and I would want to know your parameters so that I didn't cross them and make our relationship awkward. I would also want to keep you as my day care provider and if I or my mother was doing something inappropriate and you quit with us I would have wanted the chance to rectify whatever was happening.

Again, that is just me.

Funny... as I wrote the entry, I was fairly certain that you would read it and comment :)

If I told someone to just walk in that would be different, agreed. We do not have a porch, so when you walk in, you are in my house on the landing.
However, if I told you to walk in I would mean YOU, not your mom, dad, sisters, brother, aunt, cousin, etc.
