Book Review: The Skystone - Jack Whyte

This book is told from the viewpoint of Gaius Publius Varrus, who at the start of the book indicates he is of advanced age, and fears dying before being able to relate his story.

I read one of the series once. I forget the name, it was when they first came out. I remember hearing him on an interview on CBC when he came out with the first book, and it was fascinating because he did an amazing amount of research to combine as much fact as he possibly could so that it wasn't just another tale of Arthur. To date, I cannot remember a better telling of the story of the history of the legend. I mean...excluding Mallory's La Morte d'Arthur - but that's a different type of story.

Well, I have found it pretty darn good so far. I am reading the second one of the series, and the way Jack Whyte describes how the Lady of the Lake may have come about is awesome. ^^
