It was bound to happen sooner or later.
Finrod lays on the ground, beneath a tree, quite dead. The ground around him is stained with blood, both his own and his attackers'. The body of a wolf with it's throat torn out reveals who is responsible, and the blood and coarse hairs smeared across Finrod's mouth and down his chin reveals the source of the wound. The wolf's blood also stains his hands and more dark hairs are caught under his fingernails from his attempt to defend himself. Two more wolves lie dead a bit further away, and a third still has Finrod's sword stuck between his ribs. The blade caught and could not be pulled out quickly enough to wield against the wolf that killed him. Finrod's wounds are extensive, his right hand was crushed by powerful jaws when he attempted to retrieve his sword, but the ones that killed him are the deep claw marks and bites to his neck and chest. His eyes are still open, staring blindly towards the sky, an expression of pain and fury frozen on his face.
The short version: Finrod was killed by wolves. The typist whose idea it was knows who they are. ;)
