Pansy Parkinson, October 1994, Drawing

Oct 22, 2007 19:26

Name: Pansy Parkinson
Date: 22 October 1994
Format: Drawing
Relevance: Possible evidence for Parkinson's obsession with Draco Malfoy. Also indicates she might not have been as brainless as she might occasionally seem. Comments on the validity of goodness suggest a moral ambiguity.

Description: The center of the page is a messy sketch of a young man, obviously fair haired, with large eyes, unsmiling, inside a lopsided heart. On the upper right of the sketch are the words "LOVE POTIONS ARE FOR THE WEAK." All the 'i's on this page are dotted with hearts, as are exclamation points and question marks. Opposite the statement about love potions is a messy recipe, written in a different direction: "2 lacewings, dried, 1 thimble [probably] cobra venom, 4 cup rose petals, 1 eel eye, minced, OH WHO CARES ANYWAY?" Below the love potions comment is a slanted doodle reading "Mrs. Pansy" followed by a crossed out blot which isn't long enough to be a whole name at all. Further to the right of this, in tiny capital letters: "Professor Snape let me get one up that awful Granger girl today who likes her kind anyway nosy little mudblood bitch has to get all the points". Finally, and in large writing, in the lower left of the heart sketch, "IF LIGHT IS GOODNESS CAN GOODNESS BE A SPECTRUM TOO? [in an almost illegible scrawling script either Oh or Or] does even a [spectrum?] presuppose a [not sure, possibly quantification] [no idea what the next word is] goodness [no idea of the next word] be a matter [next word starts with a d] by winners and not [possibly measurably or naturally or necessarily] even a real thing? THEY ACT LIKE IT IS BUT I'M NOT STUPID!"
