With regards to our conversation last week, here is the first draft of the Oath of Loyalty we spoke of. Any comments, corrections or emendations you feel may be necessary are welcome.
"I {name} swear (or affirm) that I do not advise, advocate or teach, and have not within the period beginning five (5) years prior to the effective date of the taking of this oath (or affirmation), advised, advocated or taught, the overthrow by force, violence or other unlawful means, of the Ministry of Magic and that I am not now and have not, within said period, been or become a member of or affiliated with any group, society, association, organization or party which advises, advocates or teaches, or has, within said period, advised, advocated or taught, the overthrow by force, violence or other unlawful means of the Ministry of Magic. I further swear (or affirm) that I will not, while I am in the service of (state group affiliation), advise, advocate or teach, or be or become a member of or affiliated with any group, association, society, organization or party which advises, advocates or teaches, or has within said period, advised, advocated or taught, the overthrow by force, violence or other unlawful means, of the Ministry of Magic."
Said Oath to be administered to:
All Ministry Employees below Department Head level, esp. Aurors! (Dept Of Myst?)
Hogwarts Faculty and Staff
Wizengamot Members
Daily Prophet Employees ?
We’ll want to have them sign with lie-detector equipped quills. Should we have Veritaserum ready? And, despite your misgivings, I think we should look into having the Gringotts goblins sign this.
