Excuse me for sounding stupid, but that article confused me a bit...

i don't see why they are trying to protect JUST religion, because they shouldn't allow discrimination of any kind...

it doesn't make any sense, there is no stigma to wearing a shirt that says "God Loves Me" but there is something wrong with saying "God Hates Fags".

the article was too vague for me to have an informed opinion, but i will definitely look into this issue further.

on first glance, however, i must say that i believe free speech should be protected in its entirety in all cases. this is no exception.

I agree, and I would have no problem with a religious pride day, but I have a problem with hate mongering of any kind. I agree with having an opposing side as well. But I don't see how wearing something that says "gay and proud" is hurtful to someone. As oppose to "God Hates Fags".

it sounds to me as if you're assuming that the christian students would wear things that are blatantly offensive. in my opinion, that's like assuming that the gay students would wear clothing proclaiming "i love to take it up the ass."

i believe that christian students should be allowed to openly disagree with the day of silence, etc, but it should be done in a way that does not harrass or bully other students.

there are plenty of ways to oppose homosexuality besides saying "god hates fags" and i think it's wrong to assume that all christians have this mindset.
