Wow, what a weekend. So we started work on our house this weekend. When we got the keys friday and walked in, it finally started to sink in. We found in the kitchen a nice note and a bottle of champagne left from the prior owner. How nice. I am sooo happy this woman who lived there kept the house in immaculate condition. It even smelled ( Read more... )

congratulations!! wow, it sounds great! Post some pictures when you can! yes, painting is a bitch! It is really hard work. It starts out fun but then it gets really monotonous and you just want it to be over with.

Thanks Jane! Yeah, we even brought the camera to take pictures of before and afters, however, first, we forgot to take the pictures, then when we did remember and wanted to take some after photos, the battery was dead in the camera!! I havent changed it in awhile cause I havent had the right size batteries. Hmm... better get on that. lol!

oh by the way - be careful on deep red colors for paint. It helps to use a primer tinted grey. Otherwise you will have to go over it with many coats to get it the color you want.

yep. we bought the grey primer to go on first. :) We were going to do the pink but then the woman at Home Depot told us that grey gives a much better and "true color" result.

You two can still paint. It only took us one day to do the livingroom. You can just move things around and cover them. :) Marvin and I are there to help if you ever decide to do that and want any help. :D

it won't be that easy for us i'm afraid. we will have to fight some cracks before we can think about painting.

We did too! We had seam cracks on two walls and a small one on the ceiling. Not to mention all the nail and screw holes to putty and sand. Those are not hard to fix. After we puttied them and sanded them, then painted, you cant even tell there was ever cracks. You can buy the compound premixed now and that makes life easier. Thats something we could help with too. :)

I had fun on Saturday! My arms hurt but that's quite alright with me. :) I can believe you're way sore after that many hours of work.

I love the house and can't wait to see the rest of the purdy colors you picked on the walls. Let me know if you want me any night during the week this week. Not sure what you plan on doing before the weekend but just lemme know if you need me and I'll be there after work. I'm all yours this coming weekend too as you know.
