some people deal with things like this by pretending nothing's going on and burying themselves in whatever mundane thing presents itself (in this case, a broken fan). but you are entirely right that the proper response when you were crying would be to give you a hug.

since "aww get better" isn't really appropriate here, here's something I hope will make you smile and forget your troubles for a minute.

and you are not stupid or a wimp for being scared of an unpleasant medical diagnosis. if that doesn't count as frightening, i don't know what does.

Thanks! The diagnosis itself isn't so frightening, but the treatment would be.

It is indeed an adorable spider. I like spiders, but I've never seen one smile at me before XD.

That looks like a wonderful story! I've never heard of it before. Spider!aliens! Space travel! Interesting alien cultures! I wonder why I never heard of the author?
