gravity. what if it moved sideways and worked only between two bodies, bending around buildings and trees, going over mountains and under water, and at the end of the day, no matter where they went and no matter what they did, it always pulled those bodies back together, and the rest of the world was held in place by the force of their attraction ( Read more... )

I wish I could take credit for this idea, but I read it in a book by Scott Adams (the Dilbert guy): Out in the cosmos, what if planets were constantly moving away from the center of the universe, but anything with mass was doubling in size at the same time? For example, you would jump in the air, but since both you and earth are constantly doubling in size, you would grow so quickly that the earth hit the bottom of your feet. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

I have also been digging Mike Doughty lately. Werd.
