i'm pretty clueless but are they similar to like herniated discs?

because if so, my mom has 7 herniated discs in her back (and she's pretty much crippled beyond belief) and i can offer a world information. or at least lead you to it.

yuck, i had one when i was 2....i got it fixed....and last year my mom had one....it was gross...the whole was the size of a softball the dr said...
