Rating: Still PG…nothing big R-rated for a while, me thinks. SO IT’S OKAY TO READ, KIDDIES!
Summary: The storyline starts from when the original Hey!Say!7 guest-starred on Shounen Club and moves on from there. Bear with me...I think this is a great pairing and hopefully, I won't make too many of you guys mad!
He hadn’t meant to overhear.
“Where were you?”
He was going to meet the rest of J.J. Express for lunch when he heard muffled noises coming from the stage. Shoon?
“We had a recording, Shoon. There’s a lot of TV performances coming up. It‘s been keeping us busy.”
That time, it was Hikaru talking. He stopped in his tracks and ducked behind a curtain. If he peeked his head out a tiny bit, he could see Hikaru’s backs, with Yabu standing stiffly on one side and Shoon on the other. What’s going on?
“Do you even care about Ya-ya-yah anymore? About Taiyo? About me?”
“Shoon, that’s not fair.”
“No, I’ll tell you what’s not fair, Hikaru. It’s not fair that Yabu never even has time to say hi to me anymore, even though we USED to be best friends. It’s not fair that Taiyo’s not smiling anymore or that you’re not around to be the goof that you always used to be. It’s not fair that you two are leaving us behind. It’s not fair that Ya-ya-yah’s slipping through the cracks. That’s not fair!”
Shoon sounded just like what Takaki imagined Hasshi would. Or Kamei. Or any of the other juniors when they heard the news.
“Did you even realize that Taiyo’s quitting?”
His breath hitched. Yabu stiffened.
Oh, Yabu…
“He won’t answer any of my calls anymore…I’ve tried everything…and you guys don’t even care!”
“We didn’t know, Shoon. Honest…Neither one of us had heard anything.”
He felt that tightness in his chest spread to the rest of his body, felt that empty hollowness he felt in his heart. Not for him. For Hasshi and for Kamei and for Shoon and Taiyo and for Hikaru.
But mostly for Yabu.
“Just tell me this: why don’t you believe in what we have? Why don’t you believe in Ya-ya-yah?”
“Shoon, please-”
“Because it won’t bring Taiyo back.”
“Yabu-”
“I’m sorry. Is that what you want me to say? Because, god, Shoon, I’m so sorry. I wish I could change it. I wish Ya-ya-yah wasn’t falling apart. I wish Taiyo would stay. I wish it could just be the four of us forever. But it won’t do any good just to wish. It won’t keep Hey!Say!JUMP from being a reality. It won’t keep Ya-ya-yah together. And it won’t bring Taiyo back.”
Always the strong one. Even when his world was crumbling around him, Yabu remained the solitary pillar of strength, the one person who would never shatter.
“But if you tried to change it, at least we’d know that you cared. You’re our leader, Yabu. You’re the juniors leader. And you don’t even care that you’re leaving us.”
“Shoon, don’t do this.”
“And I bet you don’t even care that this friendship is ending.”
Even from his place so far away behind the curtains, Takaki could feel Yabu begin to break.
AN: I post too much, I swear.
Wow, this was hard. Writing again, I mean. It’s been a while since I really started cranking things out. So hopefully this didn’t suck too badly.
Got two people to thanks. One, ssm_kiyumi for helping me out for ideas on where to go for this chapter and pankeiko for beta-ing for me.
I tried really hard on Shoon. I don’t really know his personality all too well, so thanks again, Keiko, for helping out with him. So now he’s a lot softer on Hikaru and Yabu than he was initially, which is good ‘cause he was kind of mean…-_-. But really, it’s up to you guys what you think.
[EDITED: 07/13/08 - I went back and rewrote a few things, added a few sentences in, did a little work on it for the past five minutes. Hopefully, it's a bit more readable now. Thanks for the comments and help, guys!]
