Whenever the fancy strikes me, I like to walk here and poke around on the beach, do some birding, complete required readings, and whatever else. I'd really like to visit the beach today, but there's one problem: I also need to take Bahiana for a walk, and Bahiana does not like things that are wet, rocky, sandy, or otherwise not verdant fields

Carkeek Park is amazing. One of the best things about Seattle is going there on a nice late summer night and sitting on one of the big rocks as the tide comes in watching the sun set over the northern Olympics. You get nicely splashed by the Sound spray, too :]

I think that might quite possibly a truly wonderful date sometime.

I've got some major complaints about city management (green-belt usage, paving of trails, public transit, poor zoning), but the overwhelming beauty of the area itself tends to mollify me.
