We had a wind storm yesterday.  No wait, we had a friggin' huge-ass wind storm.  I was told yesterday that the winds by us (about 10 miles north of Louisville) neared 80 mph, but the WHAS 11 news website says it only reached 75 mph.  Tons of trees down, damaged homes and businesses, power outages that Louisville's Mayor said could last 10-14 days, ( Read more... )

We had about 10 inches of rain. It was awful. Didn't experience much flooding here but Gayle did in Hobart. Their first floor (tri-level) was under water. We just had a leaky chimney (it's a new roof too!)which ran down to our newly plastered ceiling!

I was wondering what the old neighborhood looks like.

Remember when we'd get big floods and my yard turned into a 4-acre lake? Good times.

I am VERY glad we did not get the rain.. after having a tree fall on my car, and no electricity.. the last thing I wanted to deal with was a flooded basement since the sump pump has no battery back-up. I guess there really is a God after all. ~ Carrie

Oh no, your poor car! How bad was the damage?
We have power - need to come over and cook stuff? We have plenty of kids here for the girls to play with. Heh. Email me if you need anything - we're not far from you (at least I don't think so)

Thanks sweetie, we're ok.. we did get our power on late Sunday night... not before putting spaghettio's and soup on the grill LOL.. I plan on hunting down some cold stuff to restock the fridge today. I'm wondering if school got any damage? I might do a drive-by this morning.

I don't think you're too far from me at all. DH parks Black Betty at the McD's in Sellersburg.. LOL so I'm up there every Friday and Sunday!

Beej, forgot to add.. there were two official wind gust readings at 81 mph but it was not at the airport. Who would've thought a category 1 hurricane could roll through the friggin' Ohio Valley?? ~ Carrie

Ugh...(((Beej & Neighbors))) Been there, done that a couple of months ago. My area is STILL recovering! It's strange to have all of that wind and no rain, isn't it? For us, it rained afterwards...almost like it didn't get the memo of mass destruction to the Quad Cities that Mother Nature sent out.
Glad everyone is okay!

I'm in Ohio and we got hit HARD by the wind. Our electric was out but it came back on Tuesday and our cable/internet came back on Wednesday afternoon - there are still alot of people in Columbus (where I am) that don't have electric. It was chaos around here for the first day or two...but all is well.
