We get attacked on his watch. He never gets the guy who did it. He says he doesnt really care about him, doesnt really think about him. He starts a war based on getting rid of WMDS. Turns out, there are no weapons of mass destruction. There also isn't a tie between this country and the group that attacked us. 1000+ soilders died. 100,000 Iraqi ( Read more... )

a part of me wishes i could move overseas for a few years and see the world through different eyes. even though i love the united states and i love being an american, but i don't even know. we used to be the most progressive country in the world. americans are good people, but they're voting against their own issues, and for what? because bush wants to ban all abortion? because he wants to quash gay rights? because he makes them safe?

i wish i could just put into words what i feel about our nation and what is so wrong with it.

I completely understand what you mean. My father is from Berlin and I often ask him about the government there, and the laws and such. Granted, they have their crazy ideas as well on certain things. But the people there are not made afraid of everything by the government. They arent forced to believe that everything that isnt in the bible is wrong and not moral. You're exactly right about being progressive. We used to be the country that others looked up to. Now they look at us sideways. And I do not blame them one bit. I just don't think I can stay here anymore. It's just not me.

If you and others who feel as you do (and I'm one of them) leave the country, who will be left to make the changes that are desperately needed? As disappointing as things are right now, there have been other times in our history that things have been worse -- and with work by those who care enough, things got better. They can get better again. If W is declared the winnter, the upside is that he can never run again, right?

I thought I was going to vomit when I went to bed last night. MSNBC had projected Bush to have 269 electoral votes. I'm still in college and I'm working solely work study jobs, and I am so glad I don't earn enough to pay federal income taxes to bank roll this war. My boyfriend found a great job in Canada that will still be there when we finish school. I think I might go with...

I cried last night. I cried like a baby. I'm already looking for a job in Berlin, Germany, near the apartment my parents still own. I'm out of here.

My family owns some resort in Austria. I don't think i'm at that point yet, though Heather. I was almost arrested during the Republican convention for... get this, walking down the street. I remember a whole block of people just walking by some protest were just flagged and put under arrest. Imagine that was you, just walking down the street, and you randomly get arrested...

But read this article about time travel, and see what things we supposedly have in store for us. Some things in this are kind of scary, since some were predicted and came true pre the govt facilitated 9/11
