What program are you using? If its photoshop, all you have to do to make round edges is use the rounded rectangle tool then where you edit the opacity above it there should be a thing that says fill. You have to put that to 0%. After that, you go to the paths tab below it and right click on the path layer. Select make selection. Copy it and paste it onto a transparent background.
A reason why you might be getting borders on them might be a problem with the selection type. Here. This is what your toolbar should look like when you select the rounded rectangle tool:

question though: how come wen i try to make round edges theres always that square border left ? i cant seem to get rid of it. heeelllp.
