Today, I watched Oprah.  It was about puppy mills and the ridiculous euthanasia of so many animals each day because they have no room at the shelters.  Out of every 50 animals brought in, only 4 are adopted.  The rest die.

I do not get emotional easily, but it made me cry.

A few years ago when I was in eigth grade I happened to be watching the public access channel and they had this show about animals and euthanasia. They showed a puppy looking up and the narrator said, "could you put down this puppy as he looks up at you with those big brown eyes, wondering why he has to die?" That really got to me. It was soooo sad. I actually wrote it in my real diary and I still have those old diaries I wrote. Wow.

It just so happened I had been looking for a topic to do this mandatory speech for my english class and when I couldn't think of anything, I saw that show and I ended up doing my speech on euthanasia and I won as a finalist for my english class.
