Love the little tribute. Yes, it still takes some skill. And YAY for her getting to meet John Donne! Now I need to learn who Robert Herrick is or was...
Feels good to have this one finished, doesn't it? Needed a fan like I did? :D

I'm so glad you finally finished this. You did a lovely combination of humor intertwined with the sensuality and yes, even a tiny dash of Dark!Doctor/Oncoming Storm. It is good to have a small reminder that the Doctor is not human, he seems to have a bit more stamina and a more pronounced primal instinct. The bit with the mirror, with Donna realizing how beautiful she is and the Doctor confirming that viewpoint, was just so sweet.
I cracked up with the "iambic wotsit" from Donna; I'm sure she knew exactly what it was and was just trying to goad the Doctor further.
Meeting John Donne was a brilliant stroke (pfft!) at the end, her gushing about the Doctor "introducing her" to his poetry and all was funny and lovely. His thoughts would have been right on target... if they were the same species! But they can no longer deny they are a couple; he's converted her over. I always got the feeling that he was denying because he thought she didn't want it, and she did the same.

That said, I agree with you on your Doctor/Donna remarks.

The uh, last chapter, blew my mind. SO so so hawt! Damn! I enjoyed the Doctor’s stamina : D:D Such a satisfying read, everything Donna deserves, emotionally and sensually. The bit where she noticed their reflections had me choking up.
I’m always going to think of this fic when I see those particular DT eyes :D you have more than done them justice!

He did have a whole slew of children. His wife was either pregnant or nursing during much of their marriage.... they did lose a couple, including the last one, whereupon his wife died several days later.
Still, as they say, I guess he practiced what he preached.

I learned all about Mr. Donne's erotic side when I was in college and it was like seeing a totally different side of the poet.
While I'm not one to speculate on the sex lives of long dead poets (except for Byron...hell, it's hard not to!), I'd have to guess Mr. Donne wasn't lacking in skills in the bedroom department, considering his large family. Mrs. Donne certainly wasn't complaining if she kept on coming back for more, despite the numerous babies.
