Henry heard the footsteps in the hall as they approached the door. He knew who it was and that he should stop Mike, push him away, but the heat of Mikes hand on his crotch, the sweet trickle of Mikes blood on his tongue was far too pleasing. Still he had to stop, force himself away from Mikes warm body, Mikes soft moans in his ear, reluctantly he released his mouth from Mikes throat.

Henry moaned leaning his forehead against Mikes shoulder as the heat of his Mikes fingers moved closer to his zipper. Swiftly he laid his hand upon Mikes as the scent of Vicki’s perfume began to drift into the room. Two hearts were beating not far away from the door, Tony was still with her but for how long, Henry was not sure.

“Henry…” Mike whispered, cupping Henry’s balls light in his hand.

“You can’t or won’t tell me anything?” Vicki asked point blank outside of Henry’s door.

Tony only gave her a glance. “Go on inside and find out, it’s not locked.”

“Smart Henry…unlocked door. Anyone off the street or from the depths of hell could wander in.” she mumbled under her breath, before reaching for the handle she narrowed her eyes on him , the young male shifted nervously on his feet. “ Should I act surprised?” she chuckled knowing it wasn’t her birthday but she flashed a grin thinking that just maybe a smile would loosen Tony up enough to pull her aside before she turned the knob and stepped over the threshold. Tony just dropped his eyes to the floor and shrugged.

Again no direct eye contact Vicki thought raising her hands in defeat, slapping them against her thighs, with a sigh. Apparently whatever Henry had offered Tony to keep his mouth sealed tight was better than anything she could offer. Well of course, duh, she shook the thought from her head.

“Fine!” Vicki blurted out grabbing the doorknob as Tony swallowed the lump in his throat that had grown twice in size since the elevator. Tony knew that what ever was about to go down here would not be good, in fact, the whole evening, even when he felt Henry needed him, he had been uneasy and now- when Tony really thought about it - so was Henry. But whatever was going on here, with Henry, Victory and the cop inside Tony wanted no part of and the only thought entering his mind now was to bolt down the hall and leave the three of them to it. Anyway, if Henry wanted him - he would know.

“Well…” Tony spoke quick shoving his hands deep into his pockets “This is where I exit.”

“Now you speak only to say you are… Vicki turned her head only to see Tony already half way down the hall pressing the button to the elevator,

“How typical.” Vicki huffed, shaking her head as she pushed open the door. “Henry?”

* * * *

Henry pulled back from Mike, wiping any blood from his lips as he quickly turned his head from her view. Mike swayed awkwardly as his eyes fluttered open, the person standing at the door was too blurred and hard to recognize at first until he heard the voice.

“WHAT THE HELL?”

Abruptly Vicki’s face came into full view, her mouth slightly ajar, her brows furrowed, her hand still on the knob, the door open …

“Vicki..” Mike said soft his hands sliding free from Henry’s hips as Henry stepped back him. The tempo of their hearts quickened and the sudden pace aroused the scent of their blood stinging Henry’s senses as he swallowed hard fighting down the blood urge that was rising in him.

“Did I just see the two of you..?” Vicki blinked behind her glasses, her hand still gripping the doorknob, her index finger pointing at the two of them waving frantically back and forth from one to the other. Her eyes flashed from Mike to Henry, then back to Mike again who had hung his head. “We’re the two of you just….kissing and…?” She turned her eyes to the wall, her face twisting in disbelief.

“Vick…it’s not…” Mike began then let his voice fall into a heavy sigh his shoulders slumping forward.

“I know what I saw Mike, I may be going fucking blind but I know what I saw!” she let go of the knob kicking the door shut with her foot. “Jesus Christ, Celluci, don’t insult my intelligence, damn it please!” She crossed her arms in front of her, leaning back on her heels, her eyes spotting the suitcases.

Henry could feel the heat of her stare burning into his back. He didn’t want to look at her though he knew he should. This is not how it was suppose to happen. He was suppose to tell them he was leaving and that was that, problem solved but his foolish desire had let him forget himself and bask in the heat of Mikes passion. Now, what he was trying to avoid, trying to spare them from, was about to come to a head right here in his apartment.

“Henry?” her voice was firm. “The suitcases…are you - or -…should I ask… are the two of you going

somewhere?”

“Vicki..” Mike said again the embarrassment coloring his cheeks as he moved into the living room. He knew the feelings she had for Fitzroy, he knew the feelings she had for him and him for her but the reality of Henry leaving hit home with him once again and the softness of his voice quickly turned harsh. “No. Henry is leaving - I assume - with that kid.” Mike waved his hand in the air and Vicki knew at once he was referring to Tony. “Go on Henry tell her…”

“Is that true Henry?” she came closer into the room but still kept her distance. “Henry?”

Slowly Henry turned to her, the scent of her perfume, the eagerness in her eyes, she could easily break him but he summoned all his will, took a deep breath before answering, then slowly he let it out, his eyes connecting with hers. “Yes, I am leaving.” he said softly.

“Okay…” Vicki uncrossed her arms, bringing her hands down with such force, the slap against her thighs echoed throughout the room

She could feel the anger boiling inside her, she could also feel the desperation, the same as she felt when Mike had walked out of the pub, but she didn’t know which way to go with it. She wanted to scream, scream at them both. To run at them, her fists flailing, as she pounded both of them senseless. Henry had made an admission to her once - once and now …

She paused for a moment and studied them, both handsome, both she had relationships with, both drove her absolutely bonkers, both…one mortal male and one immortal male. She shook her head and closed her eyes, removing her glasses with one hand and pinching just under the brows with the other. “Okay…” she whispered trying desperately to get her brain to wrap around what she had just seen going on between these two. These two that were always at each other, bickering, making snide remarks to one another, one digging remark after the next as they verbally fighting out their jealousies over her. Over her she chuckled weakly. Did she matter anymore? And when did all this take place? Her mind raced back to the club and the look on Mikes face, the envy and anger in his eyes. Oh my god - they were suppose to meet that night and I …

“Was there.” she sighed into the words. The reality hit her like a kick in the stomach. She even felt her knees weaken, her stomach lurch…

“Vicki…”Henry started but quickly she raised a hand to quiet him.

She heard the music, felt Henry’s touch against the small of her back, the softness of his eyes as they gazed into hers. She had the chance…she had. And then there was Mike she touched and knew by heart all the secret points of pleasure on Mikes body, that spot behind his ear that instantly arouses him and now….

Henry knew all these points as well? Yes? She recalled the sting of Mikes glare that night at the bar, his constant glances at Henry, the irritation in his voice when he spoke to her and …she had a gut feeling, but Mike? Mike always grilling her about Henry, always questioning her about him, telling her to keep her distance. So there was a reason other than…her. Again the anger seized her. She glared at Mike her eyes ablaze with jealousy and rage. Mike tensed, bracing himself for a verbal beating

“You just couldn’t stand it could you Mike, you bastard! You had to figure out some way to just …just…get in there some how and put it to me good. Turn the screws a little tighter!”

“Vicki..” Henry began again. Again she raised her hand.

“Vicki.. It’s not…” Mike started.

“It’s not what it seems?” she hissed at him putting her hands on her hips leaning slightly forward. “Oh spare me Mike - it is what it seems! You were in each others arms!” She shook her head, her mind spinning as she squeezed her eyes closed then snapped them open wide. “I don’t get it.” she sighed raising her arms, then shrugging. “ You two don’t even like each other….no wait” she waved her hand and stepped back toward the door. “I don’t want to know, I don’t. It is bad enough I have to know about Tony but … now Mike?” her eyes shot fire in Henry’s direction. “ and here I thought, Henry. How blind I already am, hm?” How she wanted to scream, the pressure and confusion building in her was becoming unbearable.

Henry knew exactly what she was going to say as the words rang out in his head. “I meant what I said, Vicki.” he sighed “This just … happened, unexpected…” Henry raised his hands in defeat as she raised her hand for him to stop again.

“Don’t Fitzroy…” she growled through gritted teeth.

“Vicki…let me explain…” Henry pleaded but Vicki averted her eyes, sighing heavily as she pinched her lips tight. The tears were beginning to pool and she felt as if she couldn’t breathe. She had to get out, she had to get away from here, away from them. Shifting on her feet, she took a deep breath and steadied herself.

“Look…” she began as calmly as she could. “I am open, very open…right Mike - no strings attached.” Her eye flashed, quick, in his direction then back to Fitzroy. “And Henry…well…” she grabbed the door handle. “You’re free to do what you want…do who you want. I have no say on what either of you do. Or…do to one another or anybody else…” She shook her head lightly as words she had once spoken to Mike, in what now seemed so long ago, came back to haunt her. Again her eyes fell to Mike, the tears threatening to come in a rush. “What I mean, Celluci is, no commitments beyond friendship…” Her voice trembled as she fought back the weak female in her and forced herself to handle this like a man “ No big fucking deal…right Mike?”

“Vicki…” Mike stretched his hand out to her, his eyes soft and warm as the recollection of that conversation upon their first intimate night had blown him away then, and now, it tugged at his heart. Vicki waved her hand shaking her head.

“Vicki…” Henry moved toward her. His pleading eyes only making the anger building in her worse, she glared at him, her jaw clenching, her hand tightening on the doorknob.

“I can’t Henry.” Forcefully she pulled open the door. “Maybe it is all for the best…”

“Vicki…” Henry said again, as she walked out slamming the door behind her.

The growl rose quick and deep from his throat, as he pushed his fingers clawed through his auburn waves, pulling it tightly away from his forehead. “Shit!” he snarled.

“Are you satisfied Fitzroy!” Mike exclaimed feeling as if his chest were about to cave in as he looked at Henry.

“Jesus…Mike…weren’t you just asking me to stay just before you shoved your tongue down my throat?” Henry spat back at him.

Mike shook his head falling silent the anger and the guilt washing over him. “I have to talk to her.” he said softly.

“I believe it would be best if you just leave her to herself tonight.” Henry suggested with a huff.

“Why do you -all of the fucking sudden- think you know what is best?” Mike shot at him quickly averting his eyes so he would not to feel that heat, that instant rush of attraction.

Henry stalked to the window, his annoyance growing with Mike and the whole situation, as he gazed out over the city. Slow and deliberate the words came from his mouth. “I forgot what I was and…” he paused glancing briefly over his shoulder. “So didn’t though both of you.”

Mike laughed “ You would like to believe that wouldn’t you? That would make all this bullshit better for you but what about Vicki? What about….”

“You?” Henry turned around quickly, catching Mikes eyes and holding them to him. The fire rose quick and urgent and far too demanding between them. Anger and guilt fell away from Mike as his desire tickled his groin and heated his blood, the scent teased at Henry‘s veins and tongue. “You should leave now Mike.” he said low and cold.

Mike stood there staring at him feeling defeated, broken and exhausted. With nothing left to say he began for the door, laying his hand on the handle, pausing briefly after opening it. “Tell me one thing Henry…” he turned around his eyes right on Henry, Henry only glancing over his shoulder. “How am I going to keep her safe without you?”

Henry eyes were cold, dark and lifeless. “Good evening Mike.”

Mikes jaw tightened as he slammed the door behind him.

Henry sighed. This night had not been easy, nor had once it been set into motion seem like the right thing to do. It had all turned into one horrible mess but he had to go, he could not interfere any longer. Vicki and Mike needed to work this out and if Henry was out of the picture all those unresolved feelings would have a chance to resolve themselves. At least that is what he hoped. He thought of the scars on Vicki’s arms and all she had sacrificed for him, he would not leave her to fight darkness or demons alone. He would have Tony keep an eye on her and he would keep Tony close to him. If anything were to spin out of control Henry would be wherever she needed him, in a heartbeat. They were forever tied by the blood he had tasted - her blood and she was a part of him for ever more, - as well as Mike, as well as Tony.

“She’ll be safe. I will always make sure of it ” Henry whispered summoning Tony to him in his mind.
