Rant mode on for a minute. Particularly in this time of year, when gratitude is encouraged to be at a high, there's been a ton of posting of those "inspirational" word graphics to the effect of "There are people who would love to have your bad days", "There are people who would give anything to have your problems", etc. Yeah. I got a new 'fitness' (sleep and step count) tracking setup recently. Instead of comparing me to some arbitrary goal count (walk 10000 steps! Sleep 8.2 hours!) it compares my daily levels to my own average.

I think we should be able to measure (and do so publicly without the inherent judgement of things like these graphics) our own 'bad day' and 'good days' against our own average. Yeah, my bad day might be a good day for someone else. But its still a bad day for me, and I should not be someone else's yardstick, nor should they be mine.
