Severus had heard Voldemort utter this years earlier. He didn’t understand it then. He understood it now.
Severus sat in the darkened room with his pensieve, considering of placing the painful memories of the entire day into the bowl and destroying it. Hermione had suffered so. Her screams echoed in his head. He never wanted this.
Minerva appeared with a sad, concerned look on her face.
"You need to be strong, Severus. Hermione would have wanted that."
Severus nodded silently.
"Think about your baby boy. He’s going to need a strong father now that his mother is gone."
