So what happens if the counter-party of these cross-books wins the event?

It sounds like a pretty big risk to me.

Well, you shouldn't crossbook or bet with people who won't pay you. Sometimes people get stiffed or have to wait to get paid until the other guy wins something or other. AFAIK (which isn't much) neither of these guys is in such a situation, so meh.

I hadn't even considered counterparty payment risk.

My point is that you have an inverse payout pattern from regular tournaments, where you have a big upside. Instead, you have a big downside if the counterparty wins big.
