Would you like to be enraged? Of course you would. Here, go read this.
Ok, now that you know that...read on I'm going to cut the rest of this entry as it is image heavy. Also if you're catholic you may want to skip this entire entry. I am almost certain that it will do your blood pressure no good to read any further.
So...many of you likely know I am a pacifist. At least I try to be. I don't think violence will ever help mankind solve any of it's problems.
That being said, this guy is thousands of miles from home, being shot at, and on top of it all he's being berated and threatened because he fails to "carry the cross" so to speak. This is such a load of bullshit! I wouldn't be the first in line to pick up a gun, but no one deserves to be belittled for their choices in a situation like this. Especially when they are helping you do something that no one else wants to do.
I think this is just one more on the heap of (very bad)™ changes in this country since 2001. I know this may be just me being naive, but it seems that pre 9/11 it was more an attitude of live and let live. Well no, not really. More of a...there's too many of em out there so we can tolerate it if we have to. Much like this...
Now we seem to be on a slope of ever increasing declination. At first it was, "Us and Them". Then it was, "Holy shit, there's a them. Hey man "WE" all need to be on the same side here. Are you for us or against us?". Now it's, "Hey if you're not with us...fuck you. Not only fuck you, but sooner or later we are going to get around to killing your stupid ass for not being with us". Much like thusly...
I was reading all this, getting more and more enraged at the stupidity of it all, and then I found a moment of Zen.
Faith. Nothing has caused more wailing or gnashing of teeth over the long centuries of mankind than these five little letters. Either someone hasn't got enough of it and therefore must die...or, someone has too much of it and therefore others must die.
My point in all this is...you would think if there were one person on earth to have faith it would be The Pope. He's not only the head of one of the largest religious orders ever, he's god's chosen representative on Earth. Yeah...that's right...god himself. You would think if there is one person who need not worry about things it would be The Pope. I found this...
Yeah...that about sums it up.
