Wolves. I can even go to a howl night...

Name: Amanda Jane Lane
Age: 27

1.Why would you like to join Hogwarts Home? I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I would love to actually be a part of the Hogwart's world for real, not just here. Since this is as close to that as I can get, I think it would be a lot of fun! Will you participate in both the process of sorting new applicants and the sub-communities one you have been sorted? Absolutely! I want to be involved as much as possible. I'm online a lot through out the day and post a lot to my journal. It will be nice to have a fun community to keep tabs on and post to instead of typing in my journal for no apparant reason.

2. Have you read all 6 of the Harry Potter books? Yes, and I own all of them. Which book was your favorite and why? Honestly, each book was my favorite. When I read #1, I loved it most. Then the same with #2 and #3 and so on. I would have to say each book has it's own wonderful quality that makes it the best. I think The Prisoner of Azkaban has to be at the very top of my list because of the fact that Sirius is Harry's God-father. Although short-lived, it was wonderful having hope that Harry may escape the life at the Dursley's.

3. What character do you most relate to? Hermione Granger Why? I've always been very bright. I can remember being the girl that was almost always in the library reading a book, either for enjoyment or for research. I was almost always the first one with my hand in the air with a correct answer. I've always been great with "book smarts" but not the wisest with "street smarts" just like Hermione.

4. Who is your least favorite character? That is a toss-up between "he-who-must-not-be-named" and Severus Snape. Why? With the travesty that takes place at the end of book six (I won't elaborate more in case someone reading this in my journal hasn't read the book), I do not know who to dislike or be more angry with. I have an equal animosity towards them both. "He-who-must-not-be-named" for giving the order and Snape for carrying the order out.

5. What part of the series would you change if you were J.K Rowling? Nothing. Why? The parts of the series I find most difficult to bear are the deaths of those around Harry. The death of his parents is, unfortunately a necessity to the making of the entire series. The deaths Harry encounters as a growing young man are the ones I have the difficulties with. As much as I'd like to see those people remain a living part of the series, I know J.K. Rowling is doing the right thing with the characters, so I wouldn't change it.

6. If you were Headmaster/Mistress at Hogwarts, what changes would you make? I would allow some spell casting in the hallways and I would re-start the dueling club. Why? Since the rule in regards to not using magic outside of the classrooms is ignored anyway, I would modify the rule. Less people would be in trouble that way. I would also begin a new dueling club. Knowing that "he-who-must-not-be-named" is coming back to power, I would work dilligently with the students to help them learn how to (attempt to) protect themselves if ever attacked.

7. If you were faced with a boggart what would you see? Either a spider or a funeral. I am scared of the nasty, creepy-crawly eight-legged things, just like Ron. It gives me "heebie-jeebies" just thinking about them. Or it could be a funeral of someone I love. I have a fear of losing my family/being alone, so if the boggart could find a way to mimic that, that could be what I'd see.

8. What are your top 3 positive traits that you feel define you? Why? 1) I'm a strong leader. I can be a good mother, a manager at a company, and a good wife. If I didn't have good leadership skills, it would all fall apart. 2) I have decent organization skills. Again, I have a house to run and keep in order. I have to be organized so I don't lose my head. 3) I have a great sense of humor. I am able to keep myself, family and friends laughing. With all the bad things in the world, it is nice to know I can put a smile on someone's face and make it a little better.

9. What are 3 negative traits that you feel hinder you? 1)I am a procrastinator. I will put things off until the very last minute. 2) I can be too trusting. I have had a tendency to trust quickly and I often get burned badly. 3) I try too hard. I can try too hard to make friends or to keep them. Sometimes this makes me overbearing, and also leads to the same ending as me getting burned, at times.

10. Please tell us why you should or should not be placed in each of the four houses. Hufflepuff: I am kind, loyal, fair and hardworking. I follow all traits of a Hufflepuff. However, according to the song, Hufflepuffs are unafraid of toil. That is one of my biggest fears. Gryffindor: I am loyal and brave and sometimes brash. Again, I fit all characteristics of the house. I'm not sure there is a part of the requirements to Gryffindor house I don't qualify for. Ravenclaw: I could definately be a Ravenclaw. As I said, I've always had the "book smarts" and I used to be a bit of a daydreamer with my head in the clouds. That trait has tapered off as I have grown and gained responsibilites that require me to keep my feet on the ground. Slytherin: I can be very mischevious, and I've already stated I'm loyal. I am not power-hungry nor ambitious. I am happy with my life the way it is. I do not seek to have huge amounts of money or possessions in order to make people respect me. Either they respect me or they don't. So I could fit into any house and feel each house has it's own qualities that I fit into.

11. Which of the four houses do you feel you are least suited for? That is a toss-up between Hufflepuff and Slythrin. Why? As stated previously, Hufflepuffs are unafraid of toil and that is one of my biggest fears. I hate confrontation. Slytherin are power-hungry and ambitious. I am neither. I'm not out to have all the world's riches so the world will feel my power. I like the quiet life.

12. If you could place one memory in a pensieve, what would it be? The day my daughter was born. Why?My daughter was placed for adoption. I try and remember the day she was born, but it has been clouded with time (8 years). I would love to be able to return to that day and relive it - pain and love, sadness and joy.

13. Many say our choices are what make us unique. How easily do you make choices? I used to make rash decisions. I have learned with age to look at all possibilities, weigh pros and cons. Do you often regret those choices later? I have never regretted anything. I may not always make the best choices, but everything I have done and will do is a learning experience.

14. Which of the four Hogwarts Founders (Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff) which would you be most interested to meet and why? Salazar Slytherin. I would like to get a first-hand account of why he felt only pure-bloods were best. I'd love to know why he stood for the things he stood for.

15. What do you feel makes Hogwarts so magical? Hogwarts embodies all of our fantasies. At Hogwarts you can learn how to look like someone else. You can learn how to make a true love potion. You can disappear through a secret passageway and escape from something undesireable. The true magic of Hogwarts is all the things we would be able to do if it were real and we were there.

16. The Second war between Light and Dark is taking place; who do you think will win the final battle? I'm hoping Light. Why do you feel this way? I think it has a lot to do with hope. In the real world, we do not see a lot of good deeds or good winning over evil. I think with the Harry Potter series, as with hundreds of thousands of movies/books in the past, it gives us that hope that good really can triumph over evil. In movies/books light almost always conquers darkness and I feel Harry Potter will be no different.

17. What is your favorite spell in the Potter Universe? Alohamora. Why? I lose my keys a lot. It would be great to be able to use the alohamora spell to unlock the door when I've lost my keys, or locked them inside by accident. I can be very forgetful.

18. If you were given the oppertunity to own and run one shop in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade, what would it be? Honeydukes. Why? I love sweets. All the candy I've read about and seen makes me want to have the opportunity to see Honeydukes and get into all their candy barrels. Yummy!

19. From reading the first book, we know Harry was almost placed in Slytherin. If you were the Sorting Hat which of the four houses would you have placed him? Gryffindor. Being the sorting hat, I would have been able to "see" the bravery that he possessed. Gryffindor's top quality in a student is bravery. I would have also "seen" his loyalty. Harry really is the embodiement of all things Gryffindor.

20. There are many wonderful sorting communities on Livejournal; Why would you like to be a part of Hogwarts Home? As stated previously, I love the world of Harry Potter. I've browsed through Hogwarts Home and think it is an amazing community, and as close to Hogwarts as the real world will allow. Have you read and understood all the rules? Yes, as a matter of fact, I have.

21. How did you hear about Hogwarts Home? I am a member of
community_promo and this was listed as a newly promo'd community. If it was a member please give their name so they can earn points.

22. Would you like to tell us anything else about yourself? I'm a 27 year old stay-at-home mother of 2. Living life to the fullest and loving every minute.
