1.Why would you like to join Hogwarts Home? Will you participate in both the process of sorting new applicants and the sub-communities one you have been sorted?
I'm curious what house I would be in and I am really looking forward, to participate in an online community dealing with HP, so of course I will take the time to be here.
2. Have you read all 6 of the Harry Potter books? Which book was your favorite and why?
I have read all 6 books and my favourite book is definetly book 5, because it introduces us to many new people, who play also a role on book 6, it shows us much more details about the potter-verse and it is the basis for a lot of fanfics out there. I like the whole theme of injustice and how the students have to deal with it - the injustice commited by Umbridge.
3. What character do you most relate to? Why?
This is quite difficult to say, but I guess it would be Ginny, because of the whole younger sibling thing and having to live up to family expectations. Ron does to, but at Hogwarts he is the older sibling again. The thing to be seen as the sister of, as the youngest fits mostly with her. She also leaves a lot of room for projections, as she has only a real part in 3 of the six books and then she still is always a not that of a major character.
4. Who is your least favorite character? Why?
My least favorite character would be Umbridge. Although her character is a great addition to the series, having someone like her in my life would be horrible, as I can't stand unfairness and injustice. Also she does it in a way, that leaves people helpless to fight against her and that is probably the feeling I hate most of all.
5. What part of the series would you change if you were J.K Rowling? Why?
Book 6, as it seems to rushed it so many parts, the reason I love book 5 so much, is because of it details and all. Book 6 misses those. After I read it, it was as if something was missing.
As for something in the whole series, I would maybe try to give some more insight to other characters. I know it's HARRY Potter and ... but sometimes it would be really nice to know more about what's going on in other character's heads and lifes.
6. If you were Headmaster/Mistress at Hogwarts, what changes would you make? Why?
I would try find a way that would unite the houses better. Maybe have a Quidditch Turnir with mixed teams and the housepoints are given for each player respectively. Each house just has a captain and this captain then can choose from the whole student body.
7. If you were faced with a boggart what would you see?
Most probably a spider or other insects. I'm really freaked out by all of them. Behind a glass wall in a zoo, no problem, but crawling over my skin -> horror.
8. What are your top 3 positive traits that you feel define you? Why?
Loyal: I am very loyal to those who have earned my trust. I stand by those who are my friends and family, even though I am maybe the only one and the world is against us.
Sense of justice: I have a very deep sense for what is fair and just. I will always try to stand up if something is unfair or I feel people around have to deal with injustice. I deeply loath the injustice and inequality in our world.
Fast mind: I pick up new things easily and like to talk as fast as possible.
9. What are 3 negative traits that you feel hinder you?
Impatiend: Connected to the last of the positive traits, everything has to go fast, I hate to wait and sometimes people around me have to face my wrath if things are going to slow. Because of this I can get frustrated relativly easy, but fortunatly that just changes my mood to the worse and not the resolve to finish what ever it was.
Lazy: Sometimes I am too lazy for my own good. Which results in doing papers and so on always at the last possible chance and waisting chances for doing them really good.
Too fast: As I like to talk fast and much, I often get myself in situations where I shouldn't have said anything at all.
10. Please tell us why you should or should not be placed in each of the four houses.
Griffindor: I should be placed there because I am not afraid to stand up for my believes although a majority might think it wrong, if I really think I'm right, I'll go for it and as I like everything to be fast I tend to make rash decisions.
I shouldn't be in Griffindor because sometimes I am scared of consequences my being me will have.
Slytherin: I should be placed in Slytherin, because when I really want something, I can ignore my sense of right and wrong. But on the other hand I should'nt be a Slytherin, because afterwards my bad conscience will nag me.
Ravenclaw: I should be a Ravenclaw, because I am a quick learner and belive myself to be relatively intelligent. I like to analyze things and be objective about them. Being lazy and hating to study is also what I am, so not really fit for Ravenclaw.
Hufflepuff: I am loyal to the people who have earned my trust, but you first have to earn that trust and you can lose it easily if you do something that makes me feel I have judged you wrong.
11. Which of the four houses do you feel you are least suited for? Why?
Hufflepuff, because loyalty is important but not blind loyalty and I'm also not hard working, I try to get the best results with the smallest effort possible.
12. If you could place one memory in a pensieve, what would it be? Why?
This is a very hard question, but I think a memory of the time between school and university as that was a time when everything was just right. My family, friends, boyfriend and being without new pressure having this feeling to have achieved something.
13. Many say our choices are what make us unique. How easily do you make choices? Do you often regret those choices later?
I have no problems to make choices, also the bigger ones in life as long as I feel I have enough information to do them. I hardly regret anything, maybe even nothing, because even when they were bad ones I always find something good which has happend because of them, what I don't want to muss.
14. Which of the four Hogwarts Founders (Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff) which would you be most interested to meet and why?
Rowena Ravenclaw for having a discussion about the world and maybe philosphy. If she was the most inteligent then a talk about philosophy and the world in general might bring new insights.
15. What do you feel makes Hogwarts so magical?
The whole dynamic boarding school, the dynamic of housecups and points. The fact that there are students growing up being in their own little microcosmos away from to many adults.
16. The Second war between Light and Dark is taking place; who do you think will win the final battle? Why do you feel this way?
I think it will be the Light, as they already have sacriefised so much, that it is only fair for them to be rewarded with the ultimate victory.
17. What is your favorite spell in the Potter Universe? Why?
Wingardium Leviosa, because wih it doesn't matter if you are too small to reach something or too weak to lift something. Because it is a easy first year spell, which is underappreciated maybe that still can do so much. Like defeating a troll.
18. If you were given the oppertunity to own and run one shop in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade, what would it be? Why?
Ice cream palor or pub, because it is lively and you have lots of different people coming in and out and meet many people and so on.
19. From reading the first book, we know Harry was almost placed in Slytherin. If you were the Sorting Hat which of the four houses would you have placed him?
I think the sorting was fine, because I Slytherin he would have been wrong. They wouldn't have supported him. For Rawenclaw he was wrong, because he isn't a studious type and for Hufflepuff he is to curious.
20. There are many wonderful sorting communities on Livejournal; Why would you like to be a part of Hogwarts Home? Have you read and understood all the rules?
I am not part of any other community and would really like to find out what they are about. As my addiction is Harry Potter and Hogwarts Home is a community based on that addiction it just fits.
21. How did you hear about Hogwarts Home? If it was a member please give their name so they can earn points.
I found it on enigma's list of friends and just tried it out.
22. Would you like to tell us anything else about yourself?
The only thing would maybe, that English is not my mothertounge and I have some problems with dyslexy, although I am studying language. But that you can't do something doesn't mean you shoudln't do it, right?
So please don't mind if I write something that doesn't make sense of spell things wrong and all the like.
