Name: Sophie
Age: 16
1.Why would you like to join Hogwarts Home? Will you participate in both the process of sorting new applicants and the sub-communities one you have been sorted? I want to join Hogwarts Home as I feel that being part of a close community for a fandom is an excellent way to become friends with people who have the same interests as yourself. I want to spend as much time as I can in the community, which will probably be evenings and weekends because I have long College hours in the day time. I would love to be able to give my opinions and hopefully sort people into their perfect house, and joinging in with other community events and activities.
2. Have you read all 6 of the Harry Potter books? Which book was your favorite and why? Yes, I have read all of the hrry Potter books so far. There has always been one book that has always stodd out for me and has been my favourite books because of the introduction of some poignant charecters and also the general plot line. The introduction of the Marauders to the plot line added such a sparkle for the next few books. When first introduced to Remus Lupin, I Instantly fell in love with him, in some respects he reminded me of myself. I also wanted to know instantly more about the convicted Sirius Black. I really like learning a little bit more as to why Severus Snape seems to detests Harry. Also the plot line for PoA, is excellent as it is the beginning to an ever thickening plot line, which is amazing because from PoA onwards, the story really begins to unravel and PoA is the start. As a final thought on the book, in PoA ther is the introduction of Peter Pettigrew who becomes a pivital charecter in the plot with Voldemort, and learning that Scabbers was Peter pettigrew was a great dialogue to read in my opinion.
3. What character do you most relate to? Why? I think that I can most relate to Remus Lupin - well apart from the Werewolf tendencies! In his younger and older years, Remus enjoys having fucn with his friends and taking small risks. He is also a hard worker and tries his best in all exams and homework. Out of the four Marauders, Lupin strikes me as the most caring and the one that listens to his friends the most - this is how I act with my friends and family. I think that I can relate to the kindness of Remus Lupin and his sense of friendship.
4. Who is your least favorite character? Why? My least favourite character is probably Peter Pettigrew. He betrayed his best friends - killed two of them and put one in Azkaban. He has no sense of loyalty to his friends when they really needed his support and loyalty. The only reason that Peter joined the forces of Voldemort is that he was too weak, so he joined Voldemort for his own gain and safety. Not because he was evil, but because was scared and selfish. He betrayed Lily and James so that he himself could be safe.
5. What part of the series would you change if you were J.K Rowling? Why? I'd love to see some more developent of the Order of the Phoenix. We learn a lot about the Marauders through flashbacks, I think that it would be really interesting to have flashbacks of the Order of the Phoenix in the first war. Also, I'd really like to read more interaction and banter between the teachers, I myself would like to see more to their personalities, and the difference of the teachers talking between themselves and them talking with their students.
6. If you were Headmaster/Mistress at Hogwarts, what changes would you make? Why? I would impose that before you could choose what subhects you wanted to take in the third year, you have to have a taster lesson of each subject instead of walking blindly into it. I think that I would make Potions, Charms, History of Magic, Care of Magical Creatures and Muggle studies compulsory, so for these subjects taster lessons. Muggle studies would be compulsory as it is a good skill for wizards (and witches) to be able to apply Muggle skills when needed, so in some ways the Wizarding world modernises like the Muggle world does.
7. If you were faced with a boggart what would you see? I would see myself right on the edge of a cliff - about to fall. I have an overly obsessive fear of heights and drops, ever since about the age of four because of a bad experience involving an older boy and a firemans pole.
8. What are your top 3 positive traits that you feel define you? Why?
Intelligence - I love to learn new things whether it be at home or at college. I really like learning why things work, or how things have happened. I have a lot of curiosity about the world which is probably why I ask so many questions at times. I have a thirst for learning, although this thirst is only there for subjects that I feel passionate about. For example English and History.
Loyalty - I always have, and I most likely always will, depend on and support my family and friends until the end. Both of these groups of people are very special to me and I appreciate them so much. If anything says anything rude about them I immediately jump to their defence. If someone offered me all the money in the world to give them up, I would have to refuse.
Friendly - As a general rule I'm not one for talking behind peoples backs or being bitchy. I feel that people should be respected, not hurt. If there is anyone new at college I always instantly try to make them feel as welcome as possible, and I always try to have a smile on my face to cheer people up. I love to be helpful and friendly as it makes life easier and a bit more happy and special.
9. What are 3 negative traits that you feel hinder you?
Shyness - When I'm around friends and family I can be quite loud, and usually laughing. When I meet new people though, they usually percieve me as quiet and timid, although things do change if I get to know thme better.
Emotional - I can cry really easily. If I hurt myself, if something says something horrible, or if I just just feel like crying I just cry. It's really inconvenient to tell you tthe truth, but it's not likely that I am going to change.
Stubborn - If someone asks me to do something, and I don' really want to do it, I won't do it. Or if someone upsets me and I can't forgive thme then I won't. Or if I'm in an arguement, I really won't back down even if I am not right. Stubborness usually gets in the way.
10. Please tell us why you should or should not be placed in each of the four houses.
Ravenclaw - I might fit into this house because I love to leanr and I really like being friendly to others. I might not fit into Ravenclaw because I don't want to spend all my time studying and learning, I love to socialise a lot too.
Gryfinndor - I might fit into Gryfinndor because I love to stand up for what I believe in and I like to uphold my morals - I'm also not one that *always* sticks to the rules at school. I might not fit into Gryfinndor as I'm not really that brave, a lot of the time I have to make sure that everything is perfectly safe etc. before I can do something.
Hufflepuff - I might fit into Hufflepuff because I'm a very loyal person although I might not fit in here as I'm not a very tollerable person.
Slytherin - I might fit into Slytherin as I like to get my own way and I like to learn. I might not fit into Slytherin as I am not very cunning.
11. Which of the four houses do you feel you are least suited for? Why? Probably Gryfinndor. I'm not one for jumping into a situation without thinking about it first. Also I'm not a very daring person.
12. If you could place one memory in a pensieve, what would it be? Why? One of my childhood memories, when all of my family were together first thing in the morning on Christmas day, and the entire day seemed so much mroe magical than it does now.
13. Many say our choices are what make us unique. How easily do you make choices? Do you often regret those choices later? I'm very indecisive which means that I think through everything carefully and make sure that I am absolutely correct in my choice. I hate making wrong decisions. So I think that 8/10 I make the right decision... eventually.
14. Which of the four Hogwarts Founders (Rowena Ravenclaw, Salazar Slytherin, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff) which would you be most interested to meet and why? Probably salazar Slytherin. I would love to know the logic to his prejudice againts muggle borns. I've always wanted to have an insight into an 'evil' mind, I'm using this term loosely as I do not necessarily count Slytherin as pure evil.
15. What do you feel makes Hogwarts so magical? Hogwarts is such a magical place. It is a place, that as Children and Aldults we woul love to go to and experience it. Hogwarts is so special because of all of the oppertunities that it gives to young witches and wizards. They are chosen to go ther, so they respect their palce and grab hold of al the things that get thrown their way and triumph. That is why it is so magical.
16. The Second war between Light and Dark is taking place; who do you think will win the final battle? Why do you feel this way? I think that Light will win - Good will prevail. I think this because the Light side will change due to the death of Dumbledore, they will become stronger and more forceful to overcome their goal - which is to destroy the Dark side. I think they will be triumphant, though the downside will be that the Light side suffers many tragedies from the battle(s).
17. What is your favorite spell in the Potter Universe? Why? The Locomoter Spell. I like being lazy, and I'm sure that a lot of other people are too. It's so much easier to float objects around instead of having to carry them.
18. If you were given the oppertunity to own and run one shop in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade, what would it be? Why? Hmm, proabably a clothing shop. I'm afraid I have a tendency of buying clothing even when I probably really don't need it or it isn't practical. It would probably be a mix of wizarding and muggle clothing for every witch and wizards convenience. Again my laziness shows...
19. From reading the first book, we know Harry was almost placed in Slytherin. If you were the Sorting Hat which of the four houses would you have placed him? Gryfinndor. He's ambitious, brave, clever, loyal and has a good sense of Good over Evil. He also seems to love being around his friends and fellow Gryfinndors, as a general rule he loves social interaction. Also, he detests Voldemort and Pureblood eliteism - so he wouldn't really fit into Slytherin due to their ideals etc.
20. There are many wonderful sorting communities on Livejournal; Why would you like to be a part of Hogwarts Home? Have you read and understood all the rules? I have read and understood the rules perfectly. Hogwarts Home isn't the largest community of its kind, but it appears to me to be one of the closest and friendliest. It isn't eliteist, and the fun is still the key factor for sorting people because it isn't the biggest of communities...just yet.
21. How did you hear about Hogwarts Home? If it was a member please give their name so they can earn points. I was just trying to find a community like this, and this one was my favourite.
22. Would you like to tell us anything else about yourself? I think I have basically covered most things about me, sorry if my answers are perhaps not long enough, but I couldn't think of any more detail to reply with I'm afraid.
