Ever find yourself at work with free time... lots of scattered free time. Now, I don't necessarily mean you are slacking. If your job consists of mind-numbing drone work, you end up having available time because you could do your work with your eyes closed while you listen to "O holy night" by Eric Cartman in your head, or the job is so boring that ( Read more... )

I surf the net, read the news, read LJ, update LJ...

And now I seem to be hearing Eric Cartman singing O Holy Night. Thank you.

Where do you generally read the news from?

Oh, at least I didn't say the Super Mario Brothers theme, because thats pretty hard to get out of your head... ;)

MSNBC.com, CNN.com, and washingtonpost.com. I also read the local news, but blech.

I used to go to homestarrunner.com, but it has bad memories for me now. :P

Since you are an avid news reader, what percentage of news do you read online versus on hard copy (the newspaper)? Oh, and I'll ask about the homestarrunner.com thing later, because now I'm curious :)

Um I sit around and wait for people to update their damn journals while shouting in my head "come on minions you have failed to entertain me!". I also read webcomics, and wait for people to say something entertaining on the Mush. I have determined that after 7 years in the industry there is simply nothing good left on the internet.

Which webcomics do you read? Being generally ignorant of the genre, I need a good list that I can add to my LJ nav bars like I've seen others do. And yes, I am in agreeance, there are lapses in great internet content when you stare at the damn thing... every... day... all... the... damn... time...

Why the guilt? I mean, our work day is about being productive... not necessary down to the "what" makes it productive. As an employee and as a manager, I understand that productivity can be measured at a high level, but not down to the individual (at least not objectively) because everyone can't move at the same pace. I figure, if the person feels they had a productive day, then that keeps their morale high which in turn adds fuel to the "roll" we all aspire to get on.

because my boss is all about not being idle. he basically likes to saddle us to the breaking point, and if we can show any free time, then we have 'room' for more work, even if it's not true.
