One would assume that when complaints about needing hours and being broke are creeping into conversation that the person doing the complaining would be all about snagging that extra 45 min or that extra 2 hours. Apparently not so much.
While I really do not mind coming in early, and I LOVE the extra time and monies, I'm getting a bit annoyed at the pattern. In my mind it is one thing to need to switch a few hours here or there (say about once a month or so), or to be preggers and need to switch once a week because obgyn appointments are completely unforgiving and necessary. It's a totally different story when once a week you are leaving early or calling me to cover for reasons that I could only categorize as really poor excuses.
To reiterate a point that I also think should be in the focus path here, if you are complaining about hours quit giving them away. You are not entitled to whine about money and hours if at lease once a week you are blowing them off. The only thing you are entitled to at that point is a smaller pay check and a muzzle.
On a more personal note, How dare you even ask me to cover and entire 7:30 am til 9:00 pm so that you could go to Cedar FRIGGING Point! Not ask me to switch days but to cover that whole day! Then when I tell you that sure thats okay, but make sure that Helen (our Boss) knows that this is going to happen, you act like you did not know that you were supposed to make sure that it was okay with YOUR BOSS. Then HOW DARE you call me then and ask me to cover that same day because of some medical procedure that you "have to have" it just miraculously happens to coincide the same day you wanted to go to Cedar Point. What a coincidence!! I don't believe that you had a procedure I wholeheartedly believe that you went to Cedar Point and had a grand old time while I worked the ONLY day I have off and ran myself into a 13 day nonstop work week. I could have said no, but I said yes because I am a decent human being and there is a slight chance that you weren't bullshitting me and everyone else. I come in early on days that you call off or leave early because the only people that wind up screwed is the office staff. Not you, and not me. It is not fair to expect those people to cover your crap when the have more important things to do.
