So many folks, family and friends, poke jokes at/about my cat, Poppy. I will acknowledge that she has the "tortie temper". Apparantly, it's known that torties (tortoiseshell colored cats) have short tempers. I will acknowledge that Poppy is defensive of her territory and her human (me). She doesn't take well to strangers. The only other human she's ( Read more... )

She's your cat and you are her human and you love each other infinitely. No need to apologize. Just give that brief disclaimer before someone new meets her and leave it at that. :)

I'm very glad to hear this appt went so much better than last year's. Who's your Derby vet? We used to use Dr. Bonnie Lassman at Tanglewood Vet Clinic. Loved her! My mom found her after every vet we took our great dane too would act like a fool. Bonnie is really little and understood that just because Balin was huge didn't mean that he was mean. He was a sweet heart and loved Bonnie. We only stopped going because it became problematic to go there once I was working in Wichita AND living in Andover. It just took too much time to go down there. :(

I go to El Paso. My family has since the late 80s. It's a drive for me, but here's why I see Dr. Oehmke: When I had to put my dog Gypsy down because she was terminally ill, he gave her the shot, and stayed with me with his eyes close- as if in prayer, perhaps he was, until she was gone as I held her. When someone cares that much for you and the little being you love, I guess you're willing to make the long drive down and back for your next little furry being.

Darlin', please. :o) You owe me nothing. I was venting there more than anything else- a tired, frazzled, slightly weepy kitty-mommy. I was so blessed to have you come over and take care of her that week in June. Thanks for your friendship, Luv.
