I'm alive and well. Really.

Has it been a full two weeks!

Inservices began on Wednesday the 8th. At noon on the 7th, I got a call from Lincoln telling me that they were trading my room for someone else's.

Don't panic.

This was a good change. Hellified amount of work, but good. No more stinky bathroom. The new room is square instead of rectangular. Much more storage space. In three days, I worked about 7 or 8 hours in it during the evenings. Perhaps I'll post pics of my classrooms soon.

Jefferson is good. More organized. I seem to be much more organized this year (well, so far anyway) than past years. I've made a few promises to myself to be better organized and better prepared. Not that I wasn't before, but there was room for improvement. I'm also getting up at the same time every day. For a good third of the last school year I got to work about 10 minutes before the kids started heading up to their classrooms. I think if I get there about 30-45 minutes early every day I can get more done and planned and I'll be in "the zone" for the wee ones better. No brainer, right? I just needed to impose some self discipline.

Mom started her last year at HMS. There's some possibility of her maybe getting on at Valley Center next year. She doesn't want Wichita. She's taking the early retirement (and the tasty package which reduces each year you stay beyond when they wanna kick you out) and doing what many retiring teachers do- they start over somewhere else. I've worried about her, I don't want her becoming depressed. She seems to be taking it in stride.

Ryan turned 41 going 32 and 55 Sunday. 32 because he's just so darn silly and goofy sometimes it borders actually on 23! 55 because he not only finished the driveway this summer (running a drainage thing underneath and finishing the side with decorative bricklaying), he finished the corrective spackle job in the house (which he'll be painting over the Fall and Winter I'd wager) and NOW he's powerwashing and handpainting the whole exterior of the house. Handpainting. No rollers. He's anti-roller. This summer he's refinished the porch. During the last school year he installed a few attic fans. Luckily he HIRED people to come in and add a foot or so of insulation to the attic- there were only about 5" before which apparantly is SO below substandard. Did I mention that for the rainy months he was mowing his acre of lawn twice a week? He has the old fashioned sprinklers that move or need to be moved, so he's babysitting that a lot. He's worked himself pretty tired. All the time. He doesn't allow himself to sit- except on the evenings we see each other. I'VE OFFERED TO HELP. He smiles, says thank you, and that he doesn't want to rile up my allergies because he knows I'm a sneezy-snot monster (not his words, mine). I'm touched, but I also know he wants it the way he wants it. :oD I mentioned to him once, You know, I know your house/yard is a priority to you, the days and nights I don't see you, you're working outside when you're not lightly sleeping. However, there may be a time in your future when the appearance of the house and yard won't be your priority anymore, or at least the top ones- that all of this effort may be required elsewhere...? He said he knew and that's why he was trying to get so much done now. Leading from that, Big Long Talk on Saturday about Everything. It was good. Strenuous, but good. No, I won't go into meaty details, just suffice it to say the convo was needed, timely, and good, and we're still each other's significant others.

I'm freakin' tired too man. Heading to bed. Peace out. Hope and glad my peeps are well. If you're not, I'll keep you close to my heart.

:o)
