Sasuke heads to the gates of Suna, in his disguise of the old man/trader. Sasuke has just completed one last sweep of the village. As he passes a vendor on the edge of town, he stops and picks up a small wooden flute. It's very simple, no extravagant markings or carvings and only the length from the heel of his palm to the tip of his middle finger. With a shrug, Sasuke take it with him, without paying.

Itachi started heading towards the outskirts of town, nothing left for him in there. He stood at the gates of Suna, turning back one last time to check out the village just in case he had forgotten anything. His eyes surveyed the area but everything was in place. "Hmmf pitiful town" he muttered as he turned back ready to leave as a merchant with his back turned to him caught his eye. Itachi casually walked up behind the merchant, stopping right behind him. His head tilted down with his mouth at the merchant's ear level. "It's been a long time hasn't it...Sasuke"

Sasuke had been standing there, turning the flute over by rolling it between his fingers, back and forth. He didn't play, nor was he sure if he was interested in learning, but the simplicity of the instrument is what had caught his attention. If anything, it would kill time during his walk to Konoha -- he was in no rush to get there. As he was lowering the brim of his straw hat to head out of the gates of the village, the soft voice that whispered to him was, even after all these years, familiar. It stirred something inside him that he hadn't felt in many years. His response was simple, "Let's walk, nii-san." With that, Sasuke passed through the gates and into the dessert, eager to leave Suna behind especially now that he was with the one he had been searching for.

Itachi kept pace beside him, he felt comfortable walking with Sasuke but he was still cautious. Too far in front might lead to an attack, too far back might make him feel threatened. His goal wasn't to engage in confrontation. "You've changed" Itachi commented making small talk

It wasn't until they were well beyond the outside wall that Sasuke dropped his henge, not interested in wasting even the smallest amount of chakra on something such as a henge. It wasn't likely to cause much trouble at this point, being away from Suna now anyway. "What did you expect, nii-san? I'm not who I once was." In his years with Orochimaru and developing his much sought after strength, he'd learned to let go of his hatred. Or become better at hiding it.

Itachi followed suit dropping his henge, chakra wasn't something he was too worried about, he just found it unnecessary now. Once back in his normal form he removed his hat tucking it under his arm. He turned to his brother fully aware of his maturity now. He didn’t want to dignify him with an answer, instead he just let the subject drop. "So now what, You've escaped. Do you intend to go back to Konoha hoping that they will accept you with open arms or you going to wandering aimlessly around just like I have" he asked pointed at the forged documents that were concealed.

Sasuke wonders how long his brother has been watching him for, since obviously the man new what he had been up to. "I fully intend on returning to Konoha, but I burned those bridges long ago. I am not returning to beg forgiveness. I have business there and once I'm through, I will leave." It couldn't hurt to give Itachi a little information without revealing what he was up to. Sasuke pulled the brim of his kasa down just a touch further as a merchant wagon passed.

Itachi wondered what type of 'business' he could actually have in Konoha, there was nothing that he could imagine that could be for him back there. But with him going back he could see the opening that he would need. “Very well then, do as you must” he sneered turning is back to the male. Itachi places his hand on his jacket feeling the contents underneath, they all had things that they needed to do

"And what about you, nii-san? Where do your plans take you to these days?" There was a reason behind his question, though the way he asked it made it seem as though Sasuke was questioning Itachi on his thoughts about the weather. Where can I find you next, nii-san? Sasuke thought to himself.

"I'm not too sure myself" he replied clutching the contents tighter "But I will be around" Itachi turned back to his brother placing his hand on his shoulder. "I always am" Itachi couldn’t very well tell him his plans but he was certainly going to be following his movements very carefully. "But I suppose that I should take my leave. I have other matters to attend to" he replied stepping past the male

Sasuke frowned. After all these years, had Itachi suddenly developed an interest in him that was never there before? Sasuke's hand twitched at his side, but he refrained from drawing his weapon even though the compulsion to do so was there. "Is that all then, nii-san? Running away so soon?" Sasuke asked, taunting the older man.

Itachi turned back glaring at Sasuke for his comments. "There is nothing else for me here. This isn't one happy family reunion you know. Don't misunderstand me, this isn't a moment of kindess" Itachi studied Sasuke’s movements watching to see if he was prepared to attack him. "You are still the same weak, scared little boy that I knew all those years ago. Now you just talk big."

Sasuke chuckled softly, walking past Itachi as if uninterested. Oh yes, he had become much better at acting. "Don't fool yourself, nii-san. I'm hardly interested in building a loving relationship with my only living relative. The truth is, you know nothing about me anymore, and you simply hope those words are true. That I'm that same scared, weak little boy." Another soft chuckle escaped from Sasuke and he was, truly, amused. It really had been too long since Itachi had seen him. The years had lapsed leaving Itachi with some false sense of Sasuke's personality.

Itachi laughed at his brother’s attitude, to him this was highly entertaining. He wasn't as ignorant as he was letting on, word had somehow always got back to him about Sasuke wether he wanted to know about it or not. He really wanted to see for himself but it looked like his brother wasn't taking the bait. "We shall see won't we because next time there will be no mercy" he smirked back at him.

"If you're going to kill me, nii-san, do so now. I have no interest in becoming entangled in battle with you. There are more important things happening right now than old emotional injuries that I have long since overcome." Truth was, though Sasuke ignored it, that he longed to kill Itachi. Deep down he felt it would be satisfying to bury the blade of his weapon into his throat, killing him in a brutal fashion the way his brother did to their entire clan.

"I have no intentions on killing you" If he did that would cause as problem for him as the fact is that Itachi needed him. He was to play the pawn in his plan. But this petty bickering was making matters worse. "My ties were severed with the Uchiha clan a long time ago. The same goes with you too. I was never after you, the thought had never crossed my mind" Itachi pointed at Sasuke making sure that he fully understood. "You were the one who was always after me, not the other way around. So why would be be any different now?"

"If I misinterpreted you, nii-san, it is because of you offhanded comment on showing me no mercy. Either way, I don't care." Sasuke stopped walking and faced Itachi, looking him up and down. There was no mistaking their resemblance as brothers and Sasuke frowned for a moment before wiping the emotion from his face. "When will I see you again?" The question startled him, but he did nothing to cover up the question.

The question was certainly out of place, Itachi was kind of shocked by it. This hostile attitude but yet wanting to know when he would see him again. His brother was certainly puzzling him but he thought he might as well entertain him. "I will be in Konoha but I have other things to take care of first"

"I see." Walking once again, Sasuke continued speaking. "I'll assume you'll find me, since I lack the ability to find you." As it was so clear by his inability to locate Itachi when he as in Suna.

Itachi watched Sasuke walk away from him, feeling surprisingly satisfied how everything turned out. "Don't worry little brother I will" he murmured unsure if it was loud enough for Sasuke to hear it. He turned away from the male and started walking the other direction, there was someone that he needed to see.

Sasuke was apparently done with Itachi and the conversation because he spoke no more other than to lift his hand in a farewell and replied with, "ja.." His mind drifted to Konoha for now and what he'd need to do. It was imperative to be in and out in as little time as possible. He had no interest in being caught.

Itachi turned back briefly to see Sasuke saying his goodbyes, Itachi lifted his hand back in the same fashion but no words were spoke. He turned back focused on the trail ahead. Now that was over he could get back to the matter at hand. He needed to go to Oto but if they casually let him stroll in, well he would find that out in time.
