finally the previous 750GB ext 3.5 HDD is replaced with Seagate GoFlex 1TB! this HDD was faulty in Feb when i bought my Drobo to replace 2 ext HDDs. Halfway thru the extraction process, Maxtor give up its spinning needle and thereafter it went into comatose.
after more than 6 months of procrastination and bad timing, i finally sent in. it merely took 1 week for the faulty HDD to be replaced. well, prior to this replacement, it was painful as I need to do a series of tests to "satisfy" Seagate that the HDD is really faulty. i wanted so much to write a nasty feedback to the company after the whole replacement process but given that they sent me extra 1/4 TB, i consider that as an "apology" and let this pass.
coming this public holiday, i am going to pry open the casing and get the 3.5" HDD out and slot it into my Drobo giving a memory space boost from 4TB to 5TB (3X1TB & 1X2TB).
let's treat this as a Deepavali treat for my storage library for games, movies, photos, songs, documents, installers and perhaps more digital books.
i am looking forward to this Wednesday!
