Before Sonia and I settled on Hong Kong for a holiday, we were tossing up between there and KL (KL has a zoo with lesser mouse deer, which I wanted to see a lot).

Since the holiday was a spur of the minute decision, I hadn't organised anything. A visit to the zoo would have been an excellent option. bugger.

Well if you go again. We tossed up between looking at a lesser mouse deer (basically a deer the size of a small domestic cat) or a Chinese Giant Salamander (basically a salamander that's two metres in length).

The Salamander was only about 120-150cm long, but looked exactly like what it was - an animal that hasn't felt the need to evolve in the past 300,000,000 years.

You know I never realised about the lights at the crossings in Malaysia encouraging recklessness.

But it TOTALLY explains the way I cross the street.

Also skin whitening cremes are really popular over there (as they also were in Brazil, with similar European advertising). Talking to my cousins about it, she likened them to fake tans over here.
