It's not live, it's Memorex!

Congratulations to Memorex, whose 1 GB jump drive just survived its inevitable household survival test. It went through the 'heavy soil' wash cycle and the normal cycle through the drier and not only functions, it suffered no data loss. Four stars, highly recommended.

jump drive, the replacement of the good ol' floppy disk ... little key-chain size (as in, smaller than my thumb) USB drives, range of sizes up to 1 GB (4 GB still requires a larger housing). And it went through the washing machine and the drier. now, try that with your old 5.25" or even 3.5" disks. All 1000 of them it replaced. I wouldn't even bet a Zip Disk would survive the wash.

As I reread your post I can clearly see the phrase "jump drive" yet somehow this did not sink in for me. Go thou, and figure.

I love those little things; we use them at work to talk to the embroidery machines. I need one of my very own, though...

This fails to surprise me much, somehow. phierma August 25 2006, 15:25:34 UTC
There's a future for you in some poor company's product testing department.

so this is what happens when I'm not home to check your pockets????

This week I've been pondering your alterative career paths.

1) cult leader :)
2) specialty lecture circuit as discussed last night
3) you could go to med school, a residency of your choice and do a toxicology fellowship. with your orgo background it would be easy.
4) evil product tester with real world examples.
