Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen~!

Ken is one of those very rare people for Momoko who falls into the 'big brother' category (the only other one I can think of clearly is, well, Lu Xun, but there are a couple others that are vaguely like that, like Kon for instance) - a guy she can care very deeply for with no feelings of attraction or whatever. And actually, before Yousuke got to camp, he'd make her miss Youske whenever she talked to him 'cause it was like talking to Yousuke when he's not being an ass. |D

So Ken is definitely one of those people Momoko is close enough to to consider a sort of extended family. :3

What a coincidence, Momoko falls in the little sister category, which is one that Ken's never really had before. Before camp, there were 'girls' and 'little girls'... he never really had female friends, and he certainly never had any female friends that he saw as sisterly. It's new, and nice, and there aren't very many people in the category yet. Probably just Momoko and Coraline (she's smarter than him, so he has trouble thinking of her the same way as he does Zatch, for example), off the top of my head.

What does this mean? Well. For Ken's friends, he'd jump in and protect them, comfort them, have the touchy feely talking sessions... but once you move towards the extended family zone, Ken also feels comfortable expressing negative emotions that aren't anger. For example, when Momoko stopped eating and made herself sick, he felt comfortable yelling about it and ordering her not to do it again. With most people younger than him, he would have felt like he was scolding.
