Junsu had a favourite toy.
It was red, tiny and shiny. With a sharp silver blade that was ready to nick and prick your skin if you dared to touch it.
EPILOGUE
6 years later
“Halmoni!!! Harabuji!!!”
The sound of two cheerful voices accompanied the family as they made their way down to the gate of the house.
“Aigooo…. Jin-Ae, Jin-Soong, the two of you had grown so much! Come , come! Give your halmoni a welcome kiss!”
Yoochun and Junsu just smiled and watched as their twins went ahead of them and was instantly coddled by their grandparents.
“Ah Junsu-yah, Yoochun-ah, come in fast. Your appa had prepared some kimbap he made himself inside. And for you Yoochun-ah, he had also bought a big bottle of wine! I don’t know what kind of wine it is, but he’s sure that it will taste nice. Aigoo… why are you still so slow. Come on, come on!” The 62 year old lady quickly ushered the pair in while still talking and babying the pair of twins who just knew how to capture their grandparents’ heart.
6 long years
It had not been a smooth process of reconciliation between Junsu and his parents. Even now, they were still awkward in the presence of one another, especially with Junsu’s father. But they made the effort, both of them, if not for Junsu’s sake, it was for the sake of the twins.
And it was the twins who finally built the final bridge between them…
The same pair of twins who were getting more and more spoiled by their grandparents as the seconds ticked by.
“Aigoo… my Jinnie and my Soongie…” The grandfather greeted the little boy and the little girl with a big grin and lifted them up one by one and not forgetting to give Junsu and Yoochun a warm smile. “Ah the two of you are already so big! You really should visit harabuji more often you know!” He admonished the giggling twins.
Immediately after that, their halmoni came out from one of the room, carrying many packages and to Junsu’s horror, literally drowned the twins with presents.
“Umma! You really shouldn’t buy so many things for them! They have too many toys at home already!” He complained.
Of course, it was not like anybody would listen to him.
“Ah, Junsu! It’s okay! Children are to be spoiled! Especially when they are our only grandchildren… you won’t deprive us from the chance of spoiling them right?” His mother admonished him and proceeded to help the twins open their new presents.
Junsu shook his head and sighed. This was the reason why his children loved to come over to his parents’ home so much. They spoiled them much more than Yoochun’s parents did (since they also have other grandchildren) and he couldn’t really do anything about it.
“Just let them be,” Yoochun slung his hand over Junsu’s shoulders and gently tugged him back to lean on his chest, determined to enjoy each other’s presence while their children are happily enjoying themselves.
Junsu’s body immediately complied with the ministrations of those gentle hands and he relaxed back to Yoochun’s body. Now, that was an obedience that Yoochun would never complain to. Junsu’s body simply couldn’t resist his command. He grinned.
If only their children could be a little bit more obedient… he squashed the thought. No, he definitely preferred them like this… like a bundle of energy filled with joy and happiness… just like how he remembered Junsu from before.
And he found his son plopped into his lap to show him his new bubble gun.
“Appa! Papa! Look at this! Look! It has bubble! See?”
Junsu and Yoochun just chuckled at their son antics, and soon after their baby girl joined the mix. “Nah! Appa look at this! She can sing! She can blink! And she can even pee!!!!” She pushed the doll to Junsu’s face, making him choked on several strands of doll hair.
“Ah yes… appa and papa can see it very clearly,” Yoochun decided to interfere and removed the doll from Junsu’s face before his husband die from suffocation because of the doll hair.
“Ne, ne… papa… what is your favorite toy? Is it like mine?” Jin Soong suddenly turned and asked Junsu.
Who immediately froze as the first image that appeared in his mind was the red handle… the silver blade… the river of ruby-like liquid…
But looking at his little family, he knew that that image was only a memory from the past that he would never need to revisit again.
So he reached out his hand to ruffle his son’s hair and pecked his daughter’s forehead before winking saucily at his husband.
“Well, your appa is my favourite toy nowadays… and papa certainly don’t need any other toy!”
And he knew that Yoochun was definitely pleased with his answer if the dark promises on how Junsu would play with him that night was growled into his ear were any indication.
