SHOW OVERVIEW! For the none of you who care) From my last week Young Dance show and my this week school show. (Though less of that because there are two days left still. >o>)

So (this was last week, so it's gonna get a little crazy) first was the foot-drama and the dancers-not-showing-up-for-tech drama, which was all fun and peachy keen. GAGMEWITHASPOON but other than that, there were no major mishaps. Tech went fine, though I didn't see my house from 7:30 a.m. until roughly 9 or 10 at night, which may be okay for some people, but it is TOO LONG FOR ME, and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Then, last Thursday, I got to miss school and go do shows all morning. It was an abridged version, but it was still freaking fun. It was almost all the high school pieces, and then a few large-group pieces with the little kids. Exhausting, but fun. Then I went home at 2 and slept for about four hours. (OMG SLEEP.) Woke up for an hour or so and went back to bed.

The fun started again on Friday, when I went to school and had a mental breakdown. I was arguing with my math teacher about angles, and why it's ridiculous that we have all these stupid formulas for reference angles, but if you want to find the measurement of a 16 degree angle, you just get to punch it into the calculator. Dumb, I know. But after a few minutes of that, I just sort of... couldn't handle being in school at that moment. (most likely because I was exhausted.) After class, I called my mommy and she told me to go home, where I got to sleep some more. (Just in time for our official opening night. Yay?

But, because no one actually cares about the individual shows, I will sum up my feelings on the individual pieces.

Awakening-

This was a stilting/percussion piece, which sounds cool, but was really about eight minutes of little kids banging on buckets while a few high schoolers tried not to trip on them. Pretty shitty.

Three Libras-

OMG MY PIECE! It was a ballet/modern/jazz-ish fusion, and I really liked it. (Sort of. Up until the end, when it sucked.) It was a trio, and there was the tiniest touch of postmodern/gestural in there, which I really liked, but made it HELLA HARD TO DO, because I had to keep running from one side of the stage to the other in the blackness behind the curtain (NOTE TO SELF: NEVER CHOREOGRAPH CROSSOVERS AGAIN.) For my second piece of choreography ever, not bad though.

*there was some really short piece with small children in it here, but I can't remember the name of it, and I never saw it because I was always too busy trying desperately to change*

Segments-

Really, really long piece that involved a lot of handstands and cartwheels, neither of which I am good at. It was fun, but by the end I was ready to die. Mostly though, I remember running from the green room to backstage with my pants half on and my shirt on backwards. Good times.

*more stuff that I didn't do anything for. There will be rantage about one of these pieces though.*

Fives-

We had to count in a 5/4 meter for this piece, instead of 4/4 or 8/8. Which really isn't as difficult as some people made it sound. It was a pretty fun piece, in which and friend and I did a duet that had NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYONE ELSE the whole time. We seriously looked like we'd just sort up ended up on the stage during the wrong piece, but it was fun. I was dressed in this weird yellow dress that made me look like a fat sunflower. It was exciting.

~*~ Intermission ~*~

THE JAZZ PIECE (or "Radio Play")

EXCITING. We were in red suspenders and it was SPICY. I got "seduced" by my friend Emily and in general we ran around like mad fools doing jazz in the 20's. <3
This piece totally SUCKED up until we opened, but once we were actually performing it, the whole thing sort of came together. Which was very cool. ^^

*stuff I didn't do*

Standing Still at Sea

So I wasn't actually in this piece, but it was, quite literally, The Piece That Refused to End, Godamnit. And the pants for the costume were totally see-thru, and one girl had on hot pink underwear that everyone could *totally* see. It was really, really funny. ^^

Inny

OMG GHETTO POD PEOPLE DANCE. *will post picture of the sweatshirt*
There were about 20 people in this dance, and we all had to wear these black sleeveless hoodies with the hoods up and tied. We looked like bald, ghetto pod people. The dance was about cliques, and at one point I got to stage a rebellion and TAKE OVER THE POPULAR CLIQUE. Very amusing. <3

*Emily's Solo, the name of which I forgot*

The only part I had in this piece was "winding up" Emily, who was pretending to be a wind-up doll. And yes, I was still in my Pod Person costume, so I looked like a FREAK.

Schemes for a Bizarre Utopia

Wasn't in this one either, but a) it had an amusing name and b) it was the last dance, so I had to watch it EVERY SINGLE DAY while waiting for bows. Pretty much the only non-emo dance in the show. Well, except for the Jazz piece. It was... an okay dance. Too long for my tastes.

Now, on to ex-friend rantage.

The short and short of it is this; I have an ex-friend and she broke her foot and so she cannot dance, and this has sort of turned her into a bitch. She was mean and neglectful to her dancers when she choreographed on them, and she has a ego the size of Jupiter.
Did I mention that she goes to school with me, so I get to see her in Dance class for 3 hours every weekday? Oh rapturous joy. >o>

I just am SO SICK OF HER. She thinks she's this *amazing* dancer/choreographer, and though I will admit that her piece for the Young Dance show was pretty much amazing, I am roughly 100% sure she didn't make up most (if any) of the movement material, so a good chunk of credit for that goes to her dancers. And as for dancing? SHE SUCKS. There. I said it. >P

She's got a solo in the Spring Show for school, and she's doing it to this music from Pan's Labyrinth and it's ridiculous, because that music is just wild and epic, and her little dance is her rolling around on the floor and looking sort of like a hunchback.

And she's wearing one of the costumes I used for my dance. THIEF. WHORE. LOOOOOOSER!! *fumes*

Plus, she's all like, "OMG my solo is in the show, I'm so cool." And it's like... Whatever. The teachers just feel bad for you because your foot is broken and if they didn't let you be in this solo, you'd be in one other dance. You. Are. A. Loser.

BLARGH.

Okay, so I'm not usually actively mad about this. I mean, it doesn't even usually bother me. But it's just, today she's just been so... smug. And it's like, does she not get that she looks like shit when she's dancing? And the dress she's wearing makes her look pregnant. Hah.

I am such a bad person. *feels mildly bad*

LOOKIT! IT'S MY BALLOON. His name is Tucker, and he's deflating and it makes me sad.

His boyfriend Wallace is at school still. He's red and precious and not deflating. ^^

And... does anyone out there in LJ-land have Bjork's "Where is the Line?" that they would be willing to upload? I'll love you forever~
