top five belle & sebastian songs
Jonathan David - the stand-out song for me from the Brisbane concerts. Stevie love!
Slow Graffiti - melancholic but undramatically so. Forever associated with train travel in my head (it has that feel).
The Model - good to sing to. Also, good example of singing sweetly about naughty things.
Judy and the Dream of Horses - happy song! about a precocious girl.
Expectations - I just love the shuffling tempo of it. And these lines: Your obsessions get you known throughout the school for being strange/Making life-size models of the Velvet Underground in clay. Hahaha!
top five 80s-defining pop gems
Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode. Synth!
Don't You Want Me - The Human League. Perhaps the ultimate 80s pop song.
Shout to the Top! - The Style Council. This song has pulled me out of some really terrible places. Eighties songs had a great sense of drama. And slicked back hair.
Gold - Spandau Ballet. Ditto, on all counts.
Come on Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners. Film clip is kinda disturbing, not only for the dungarees.

Something for the Weekend, The Divine Comedy:
Get this into your sweet head/There ain't nothing in the woodshed (except maybe some wood).
