I can truly see this happening in canon. Haru would be friendly but cautious and Zuko, afraid of what friendship could mean, but acting on the principle regardless.

Hey, thanks! I'm glad people like this as much as they seem to. I really do like exploring relationship dynamics with Zuko -- friends, surrogate siblings, allies who don't like him but will still take a bullet for him (figuratively speaking) -- and I've been a fangirl of Haru since I saw him in the earthbending segment of the behind-the-scenes stuff on the first DVD. :D The two of them together is a lot of fun no matter which route I take.

That's... really cool. Honestly, before, I couldn't see the two acknowledging each other existed, but this fic has made me see otherwise. Your logic works; they wouldn't be all loud and talkitive. The silence makes this seem all the more plausable.
