I'm mutually stalking you on NaNoWriMo now, LOL! I agree. Normally I can't bring myself to sit and write in large chunks of time but if I look at all the other writers on there I get a sense of "I can't lose to them" and it spurs me to type faster. Hey, if I have an issue with time I just need to go faster, right? Thanks for the add!
I think it's all a matter of inspiration. I usually follow a story and write until I'm stumped, go to bed, and dream up a whole new bit, and type that all up until I run out of steam again. It's not very effective for finishing a fic and it tends to make things see weird and disjointed. Dreaming is probably the worst way to go... A lot of people start on their story early. Like writing outlines, plot ideas, and stuff. It also seems like cheating but if everyone did this on the fly only a couple dozen people would probably win. You had a good count yesterday, over the expected number. And I am nearly there on my word count today so my sprits are high.
