July 27th 2004 finally it came. Jesus its been long. The long awaited release from the most controvertial and in the melodic hardcore scene, taking back Sunday released its sophmore album. This will be my first review of a cd, and rightly so it should be for one of my favorite bands ever. First of all before I start I must clear up some things with ( Read more... )

.. wait.. I thought we were the sequel to Taking Back Sunday? oh well... such to that..

seems like a solid review sir. I still need to hear the whole album (having only heard the one song) but hey, you love the fred, and who doesn't, so I'm sure it's right radical.
Yes, I said "right radical.."
Anyway, word to that, word to your hungarian grandmama who's a really allaround nice lady.
Let's keep this band alive..

Hey I'm Lauren, Im a friend of Steve's... he directed me to your review, because i too was waiting anxiously for the arrival of the new tbs cd, I got it yesterday, finally, around 5.00pm, I was soooo thrilled, and I have already picked out favorites.. "New American Classsic" would have to be my favorite so far because I love acoustic, and I love slow songs, which is not typical tbs music, BUT in them doing a slow song, it makes them so much more well rounded sounding, and adds a whole new respect to them, as far as im concerned. I play acoustic guitar, so it scores large amounts of points w/me. wow though, glad steve showed me... great job on this, good luck with your's and his new band. im excited to hear the results...

I actually have a confession...I only listened to slowdance on the inside twice before i changed the song, its just not the same without john, its like its missing something :( This could just be because I'm up at 3 in the morning...possibly. I don't really think anything can ever compare to johns screaming and yelling, especially in the end of "Timberwolves At New Jersey" though. I also like Johns songwriting better, If Adam wants to talk to John, he should call him or somethin instead of writing songs sending him messages, cuz I don't really wanna listen to Adam piss and moan, but then I do, because TBS is awesome oh the hipocrasy. I guess what this entire thing is saying is that, their new cd doesn't sound like Taking Back Sunday anymore, its good, but its not the same. Ah fuck its late so I'm gonna stay awake and listen to some screamo or post-hardcore or whatever the fuck the stuff i like is called these days ( ... )

when i first listened to this album, i thought it was crap. sounded just like the other one, and nothing impressive going on in eddie's world. however, i realized that taking back sunday doesn't suck, and are nothing like new found glory. so i gave it a second listen, and i realized how much ass it was kicking. it was a lot more deep and intricute (sp?) than i had first thought, but i don't know if i want to go as far as saying that this is better than the first album. from your description adam's lyrical meaning seem epetitive and, yes, emo for my taste. while the music is flat out awesome, i think they could do with an adam upgrade. i mean the only thing he has to do is write and sing songs, and he can hardly do this. he spazzes during concerts (which really isn't that much of a problem because it still sounds alright) and the lyrics aren't as deep as i would hope. it sounds more like he lost a parent, not a band member. nonetheless i am still a TBS fan, and will be until adam decides to write a song with less lyrical depth than ( ... )

Have you ever seen them live? Adam just swings the mic the entire time, literally. He barely even sang during the songs, the only one singing mostly was john.

I like Straylight Run better than both of them. HA! What do you have to say about that, cowboy?!
