How Adam Lazzara can afford to "suck" live

Aug 22, 2004 10:57

After seeing taking back Sunday perform in numerous live videos I saw something magical. First in the Nolan/cooper era I noticed that most of the band members didn’t move that much. Lead guitarist eddie reyes would faithfully reprodce his sounds on stage, while simultaneously shaking his entire upper torso in violent up and down movements. ( Read more... )

I totally agree with you, having seen the same show myself. I don't think Adam did a bad job at all. Honestly, and I think you'd agree with me on this, that it'd stil be a kickass show even if Fred was sitting in a lawn chair in his underpants taking a nap.
Naysayers should go eat some pie. That's what they should go do.

It isn't a problem that he moves around, its a problem that half the time he isn't singing. I'm all for seeing an interesting and fun show, but you can keep the show fun, energetic, and still perform the song. My definition of a tight band is one that can perform their studio versions just as good live, but that doesn't necessarily mean they have to just stand there. I'd rather see someone unpredictable that still performs their songs up to par, rather than someone flip out and not sing. It makes it seem like they're just shit and the only way they can make a song good is in the studio (all bands that do this, not just TBS). Take Andrew from soco for example, he is the most unpredictable person i have ever seen live, and he still sings the songs and plays the piano, and doesn't just sit there. Adam has a long way to go and I believe that people go to shows to have fun and listen to music, not watch Adam swing the mic and hang upside down while the background vocalist is the only one singing. Maybe Adam got better, but in the ( ... )

Adam is God-like. Honestly. He doesn't even have to sing, he can just jump around in a drunken stuppor and I'm still gonna scream with absolute delight, and the fact is...he put on one of the best shows I'VE EVER SEEN AT A CONCERT. He sang awesome, and if he missed some lines...who cares...Fred was singing, and I was just dreaming about banging him anyway. I mean....no but seriously. He was great. Think about it like this...Jim Morrison of the Doors was known for putting on a GREAT show...he wouldn't even sing half the time, but he would be humping the mic, running around half-naked or doing whatever, and you eat it up. Down with monotony! Adam is a sex-god.

Oh...and I agree with everything Chris says...always. because he is ALWAYS right. yay chris!

Actually Morrison would sing most of the time, add lines to his songs mid-performance, and improvise. He didn't hang from raftors but he was known for putting on a good show because he would just start chanting things and the band would follow. He didn't run around half naked either, he took his shirt off sometimes, but only half naked once when he was arrested. Morrisons habits and flipping out on stage are part of the reason that John Densmore wanted to leave. Morrison was ruining the band (bringing Robby Kreiger into drugs) and things like this. The fact is, Morrison performed his songs how he wrote them, he just added parts and started weird chants. I don't go to shows to dream of fucking the singers, I go to listen to the music, and If I saw TBS I would probably be dissapointed at how Adam is unable to perform his songs to the caliber that they are recorded and written.
